Student Spotlight
1st Grade
First grade students are working hard to become better readers and writers by reading and writing every single day. They are also becoming better mathematicians by playing lots of math games that help them add and subtract within 20.
3rd Grade
This week, third grade students went on a magnetic scavenger hunt to test what materials around the room were and were not magnetic. Students also identified the main idea and key details of a text. These students used music to study the central message of a story and pronouns. They also used Kagan structures to discuss patterns in multiplication and division. Plural noun centers were also studied this week in third grade.
5th Grade
Fifth grade worked hard in science this week. They put both classes together and did some fun science experiments to determine if there was a chemical change involved.
P.E.
$10 and a Bone
In P.E., students have been completing fitness stations to earn P.E. money. Once they have earned $10 as a team, they can buy a bone. The object of the game is to build a proper skeleton before time is up.
Double Track Cup Attack
In this activity, students could walk or run to earn cups to build with. They could walk on the walking track to earn 1 cup or jog/run on the running track to earn 2 cups.
Both of these activities are Project Fit America lessons.
Great Effort Award
Cali Walters, a fourth grader, played Double Track Cup Attack in P.E. this week. She put in a lot of hard work and earned 96 cups, 2 cups per lap ran. That's 48 laps ran in the gym, which is over 2 miles! Great job, Cali!
Kindergarten Alphabet Parade
Mrs. Danielle's Kindergarten Class graduated from ABC Bootcamp and celebrated with the ABC Parade. The students were each assigned a letter, and they were responsible for decorating a paper bag vest with items beginning with their letter. They then marched down the hallway in a parade while all other classrooms stood in the hallway and cheered them on!
