NWEA: What's at Stake?
- NWEA results tell teachers what we still need to learn this spring.
- NWEA results will help us make summer school decisions. This year we will be offering a two summer school programs. Select 8th graders will be required to attend a three-week program (June 10-27) at SHS. Select 6th and 7th graders will be required to attend a two-week program (June 10-13 and 17-20). Decisions about who needs summer school to qualify for promotion will also include grade and attendance data.
- NWEA results will impact the courses you take next fall. SHS will be looking at NWEA results to determine access to Freshman Biology and Foreign Language. Growth and performance scores for 6th and 7th graders will help us determine access to accelerated sections of math and Language Arts for next fall, as well as, required participation in a new intervention program we're planning for SMS next fall.
- NWEA growth results are used to evaluate teachers.
Staying engaged in the testing process has perks, too! All students disengaged less than 5% of every testing session will be invited to the SMS Showcase Assembly scheduled for Friday, April 12th at 1:45 PM. The assembly will feature performances from Winterguard and Talent Show winners, as well as the Dodgeball Exhibition of Back 2 Back v. Campus Officers. The SMS Student Council will also make a presentation at the Showcase. You won't want to miss it!
NWEA is important to every single person in our school. Thank you in advance for doing your absolute BEST on all three exams!
