Special Message from Executive Director’s office: Opening of Orlando Science K-8- East Campus
Dear Families,
Orlando Science Schools is very excited to announce the proposal of opening a new Kindergarten through eighth grade campus in east Orlando probably near the UCF campus for the 2020-2021 school year. The school will be accepting grades K-5 in August of 2020 and will be adding one grade each year until we reach the inclusion of 8th grade. The students who choose to attend our east campus will be eligible to continue to the current Orlando Science Charter High School which is located on Technology Drive. While our plans are progressing, we would like to ask for your participation by filling in an interest application to help us determine the capacity of each grade level. If you are on the waitlist for one of our current campuses or would like to transfer your children to the east campus, please complete the application form below by February 15th, 2019.

The Week Ending 1-25-19
Dear OSS Technology Campus Families,
Congratulations to all OSS Science Olympiad team members! They have done a phenomenal job competing at the Central Florida Regional Tournament. Two of our middle school teams placed 1st and 3rd place and earned two spots for the State tournament. All three of our high school teams also qualified to state while getting 1st, 3rd and 4th places, overall. Many of our students earned individual recognition in their respective events.

None of this could have happened without the hard work and dedication of students, teachers, coaches, parents, and volunteers. The words are not enough to convey how appreciative we are for your support! We are truly grateful for your time, effort and donations to our team.
Today, Friday, January 25th marks the 100th day of school!
Sincerely,
Michael Singleton
The Technology Campus is incredibly thankful for all of our faithful readers, and for that we would like to reward our families. Moving forward we will have a NEWSLETTER QUIZ located under the Principal's corner.
Quiz completion will automatically place your student into a drawing for a Dress Down Pass. Dress Down Passes will be awarded to 10% of entries for each building. The number of entries will directly effect the amount of prizes awarded for the week. Entries selected from the lottery must be correct upon review.
We hope that you have fun, and enjoy reading this week's edition! Entries are due the morning of Monday, February 11th.

Kindergarten
This week in Kindergarten we learned about “Equality” and read “Ron’s Big Mission by Corrine Naden. We loved learning how Ron made his dreams come true and became a real astronaut. We also feel inspired by this story and wrote and drew our future goals and dreams.
Our favorite event was dressing up like we were a 100 years old for the 100th day of school. We practiced counting to 100 by 2s, 5s, and 10s. Sorting and creating patterns and then sharing our 100 item bags.
First Grade
Ms. Molnar’s class is reading The Big Trip in ELA this week. We are discussing different ways to travels. We are also going over comparing and contrasting strategies. Orca's Core Values and character Education
Character Education has begun at OSES and we are having a great time learning our social skills at school and the students are learning how to use these tools successfully too! This year part of our Character Education curriculum we have introduced "Operation Impact" our goal is to share and show how our students are reaching out to the communities, families and other students to show their positive character traits.
Here are a few character traits:
- Kindness
- Empathy
- Trustworthy
- Reaching Out to Others
- Building Friendships
We want to see how your children are using their character traits outside of school and featuring them each week in our weekly newsletter!! This is a great way to spotlight your child's positive influence that they have in our community and school! We look forward to seeing your pictures and experiences.
Please send a few pictures and small description of your children's activity (encourage them to write it on their own too). Pictures must be handed in on Monday's in order to make it for the Friday newsletter. They can be sent in to your child's teacher or emailed to Mrs. Krygowski at katherine.krygowski@orlandoscience.org
We can't wait to see our wonderful students putting #Operation Impact to work in our community!!!
