Please make sure you are on time for Animal Check-In! If you will be late or have an issue with getting checked in at that time, please talk with a superintendent or 4-H Staff.

Halter Horses- Check in prior to 8:30 A.M.

Performance Horse - Check in prior to 9:30 A.M.

Rabbit & Poultry - Check In 4:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M.

Static Exhibits - Check In 5:30 P.M. - 8:00 P.M.

Goats - Check In 5:45 P.M. - 6:30 P.M.

Sheep - Check In 6:30 P.M. - 7:15 P.M.

Beef - Check In 6:00 P.M. - 7:30 P.M.


Wednesday, July 26

Swine - Check In 8:00 A.M. - 11:00 A.M. (last call is 10:45 A.M.)

Reminder: Hoses not provided in Wash Racks

Hoses are not provided in Wash Racks. You need to bring your own!!


NEW IN 2017! Beef tie-outs will have a new situation this year. They will be east of the beef barn in the grass/parking area.

  • You can bring your own bedding for the tie outs or they will have straw available for $5 per bale.
  • Cow/Calf pairs will have pens similar to past years available for them.


Rabbit Showmanship will be moved to follow the Market Class this year.

State Fair 4-H Live Animal & In-Person Contest Registration OPEN

State Fair 4-H Live Animal & In-Person Contest Registration

4-H'ers planning to exhibit a live animal or participate in an in-person contest at the Nebraska State Fair must register State Fair 4-H Live Animal & In-Person Contest Registration. is where they can be made! Entries will be due by 5:00 P.M. on August 10, 2017!

This includes youth participating in any of the following shows or contests:

  • Beef
  • Sheep
  • Swine
  • Meat goats
  • Poultry
  • Rabbits
  • Dog
  • Dairy Judging Contest
  • Dog Skillathon
  • Livestock Premier Exhibitor
  • Presentations Contest
  • Public Speaking Contest
  • Fashion Show
  • Culinary Challenge Contest
  • Insect ID Contest
  • Tree ID Contest
  • Horticulture ID Contest
  • Weed & Grass ID Contest

Registration must be completed by the family and must be paid for using a credit card. There are no other options for payment. For help entering, please review the 4-H/FFA Registration Instructions or watch our tutorial video. Rodeo Arena Open for Saunders County Fair Horse Practice

The Rode Arena will be available for use on Sunday, July 23 morning until the night of Monday, July 24 to practice.

2017 Aksarben Entry Process

The 2017 AKSARBEN Entry process will be an online entry process. The entry process opens Monday July 24. Entries will be accepted through August 31 at the published entry fee rates. Entries from midnight August 31 until midnight September 7 will be at 2 times the normal entry fee. Entries received September 8 through September 14 will be at 3 times the normal entry fee. NO entries will be accepted after September 14.

The online entry process will require parent contact information and verification of 4-H member information. Payment will be processed via credit or debit card prior to leaving the entry page. Each family will be able to create a unique password to ensure security of information.

More information will be provided soon. Complete login and entry instructions will be posted on the website.

Other important dates to remember:

  • August 31 - All entries for the AKSARBEN Stock Show are due online.
  • September 14 - No entries accepted after this date.
  • September 23-24 - AKSARBEN Horse Show in Grand Island, NE at Thompson Arena / NE State Fair Grounds.
  • September 28-October 1 - AKSARBEN Stock Show in Grand Island, NE at Fonner Park / NE State Fair Grounds.

Volunteers Needed for State Fair 4-H Fashion Show

The Fashion Show is Monday, September 4 at the Heartland Event Center, State Fairgrounds, Grand Island. We need assistance in three areas: 1) Registration, 2) Hostesses, and 3) Tabulation.

For the 4-H Fashion Show, which again this year includes both garments constructed and garments purchased, those helping with registration and as a hostess will need to be present by 7:30 a.m., while those helping with tabulation will need to be present by 8:45 a.m. Registration helpers will be finished by 9:15 a.m., while those helping as a hostess and in tabulation should be done by 12 noon.

Friends of Saunders County 4-H and Extension Foundation Silent Auction Fundraiser

  • Rain Barrel Silent Auction Fundraiser
  • Each Club can make a rain barrel, potted arrangement, or any other outdoor decor to donate to the Silent Auction at the Fair!
  • Rain barrel is any above ground container modified to receive, store, and distribute rooftop runoff for non-drinking uses
  • Clubs can construct (or purchase pre-made barrels) to prime and paint them as well
