News from Mrs. Briegel

Dear Wegienka Families,

Administrators and teachers everywhere recognize the important contributions parents make toward a child’s success in school. There is no question about it-success at school begins at home. Parents are the single most important variable in a child’s schooling.

One of the most important components of a good school is the partnership between the school and parents who work together for the best interest of children. The close partnership between home and school is one of the exceptional strengths of Wegienka Elementary School.

Wegienka Elementary has a strong tradition of supportive, hard-working parents. Throughout the year parents have the opportunity to develop that partnership in a wide variety of ways. Parents join the PTO, volunteer in the classroom, help at the carnival, attend field trips, are a Motor Mom or Dad, read to their children and help in many other ways. By being involved, your child realizes you think his or her school is important. Last year our PTO had over 1,500 documented hours. That shows the exceptional partnership parents have with the school.

As we work together during the year, I invite you to stay in contact and let me know how you and your youngster(s) are experiencing school. There will be many opportunities for contact with me, please don’t hesitate or ever think your comment or concern is unimportant. Through team work, open communication, and a dedication to continuous improvement, we can make this school a place children delight in and enjoy learning.

We look forward to working together as partners in learning.

Emergency Cards

Please be sure you have turned in the emergency card form to your classroom teacher. It is vital that we are able to contact you during the day. If your phone numbers change, please send a note to school so the information can be changed in our computer system.

Pick Up and Drop Off

Thank you for following the procedures we have in place for a safe arrival and dismissal for all students. If you are driving in on Timber Creek, please be sure to follow the road down to the second turn in and join the line there. It is VERY important that we are good neighbors to the families who live on Timber Creek. Please DO NOT block their driveways.

The side door opens on Monday. If you are using that door to pick up your child, you must bring your number with you daily. The side door is near the big rock towards the office. Please remember that parents can only use the parking lot near the office. The other lot is our employee and bus lot.

Please be sure to bring your child into the office if they are arriving late to school. We need you to sign them in at the office.

Early Pick Up:

Please remember that we are teaching until the very end of the day which is
3:25 p.m. It is very disruptive to sign your child out early. We do not dismiss students after 3:00 p.m. due to making sure all students are where they need to be for dismissal.

Coffee with the Principal

Tuesday, October 10th, 2017

9:30 a.m.

We will meet in the office conference room.

Please join me and your fellow Wegienka parents

for some refreshments, a little laughter and an update

on what lies ahead for this school year.

Looking forward to seeing you,

Michelle Briegel

We love to celebrate birthdays for our Wildcats. In order to be safe for all students, we do not allow birthday food to be brought to school. You can donate a birthday book to our media center if you would like. We will add a special book plate on the cover to recognize your child. Additionally, we announce the birthday during morning announcements. Thank you for helping keep all of our students safe.
