The Cedar Ridge Weekly
August 30, 2020
Message from Dr. Ramirez
We are approaching our third week of Remote Learning and our students are settling into a new rhythm of learning. As teachers and staff, we are, too. We still have some bugs to work out and I ask for your continued patience and understanding.
New this year is Community Time, which begins this week. Community Time is made up of two parts: Ridge Time and Student Clubs. All students have Ridge Time listed in their class schedules.
For now, we are under our Plan C for Community Time, which is broken up into two sections: Ridge Time will be held on Mondays and Wednesdays, and Club Time will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Ridge Time attendance is required for all students. While encouraged, joining a club is not required.
Community Time during Remote Learning is designed to allow:
For teachers to check in with students, begin building relationships, and/or reconnect with students. Teachers will have the same Community Time group for up to four years.
For guidance counselors to provide state-mandated information, training, and distribute general "school" information.
For Administration to hold class meetings, connect with and inform students of various topics, and offer occasional training.
For students to connect with each other via study groups, clubs, or a time to "hang out".
From Sept.1 to September 10, we hare holding Ridge Time student meetings with school administrators. Attendance is required. Clubs will begin the following week, the week of September 14
Students are to join their Ridge Time class by 2:15 p.m through Canvas, just like regular classes. Attendance will be taken.
I hope you all have a great week.
Dr. Ramirez
