Happy New Year Message - 2016 Begins......
On Monday morning we will open our doors to welcome students and staff to the new year. I trust that our students have had a restful holiday break filled with fun and leisure.
Now….. it’s time to continue what we started with increased enthusiasm and strength. Together, we will continue to develop our students into CHAMPIONS as we focus on creating engaging lessons, student and family engagement, and creating and maintaining our high expectations for school culture and climate. As a team we must commit and be determined to delivering excellence in instruction, school safety, developing the home-school connection, respect, accountability, and student support.
As people often make resolutions and goals for the new year; it is also a perfect time to create them with your child. Our students have been away from school for two weeks and may need a “refresher” and consistent schedule to acclimate them back to the rigor of school life. January is a perfect month to reinforce your expectations and set goals for learning, grades, and positive behavior. Let’s work as a team to continue our commitment to the success of your child. When we hold our students to a higher standard they always EXCEED our expectations. They can do it!
We know you want the best for your children! So do we! FCH is on the road to becoming a high performing school but we can't do it without you! High performing schools have highly effective leaders, teachers, and teams. These schools also excel in family and community engagement. This year, we will excel in involving you! We ask that you commit to creating a culture for learning at home and be involved in teaching and learning. Please assist us by modeling the following at home:
- Make sure that your child is well rested by having a set bedtime each evening.
- Monitor and support your child’s reading, writing, and math practice at home.
- Make sure that your child has a dedicated space/place to complete homework and projects.
- If your child needs assistance, encourage them to stay after school.
January is a serious and pivotal month that sets the tone for the remainder of the school year. It is also a perfect opportunity to set the “RESET BUTTON” for students. Parents, you are extremely important to helping us to create and maintain a positive and safe school culture and climate. Together we can teach our children to be champions, learners, show respect for each other and all adults in our community. College readiness also requires us to teach our children to have excellent character, skills and behavior. We are committed to CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT and we want you to join us as we are determined to BE EXCELLENT in our work on instruction, school climate, and culture! We look forward to your continued support.
Welcome back!
