Smencils and Air Dough Fundraiser

Starting this Friday, students will have an opportunity to buy Smencils and Air Dough to help 4th, 5th, and 6th-grade students fundraise. We will be selling during lunch every Friday (while supplies last). If your student would like to purchase items please send them with cash on Fridays. For TK and Kindergarten, you may put the money in an envelope with the child's name and have them give it to the teachers. We will pick up the envelopes from the teachers and let the students choose their items.

Smencils - colorful and fun-smelling pencils for $1. These come in many flavors and colors.

Air Dough - small dough set to create different cute animals for $2. These are adorable animals your child can create with all the needed dough and instructions. These will be taken home to create because the dough dries quickly and helpful videos can be found online.

These items are while supplies last, but if there is a lot of interest we hope to keep this going with additional orders. Thank you for your help supporting our upper-grade fundraiser!

Emergency Drills

This week, we practiced our second emergency drill of the year. The first drill was our fire drill. During this drill, we practiced quickly evacuating after we heard the fire alarm and were alerted that we needed to leave the classroom. Students then gathered on the blacktop by class. The second drill was our lockdown drill. During this drill, a long bell is rung. This bell alerts the students to quickly enter a classroom if they are outside, move away from the windows, and turn off the lights. Also, the door is pulled closed if open. Our doors remain locked from the outside at all times. All of our Panthers did an awesome job practicing these drills!

English Learner Advisory Committee Meeting

All parents of English Language Learners and parents of students who have been redesignated are invited to attend our English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC) meeting on Tuesday, September 27, at 8:30 AM. We will also be sending an invitation through email to all families with English Language Learners and redesignated students.

Elevo PE Program

This week’s games of the week are Bear, Salmon, Mosquito and Lawn Bowling, and the focus is integrity. Integrity is the quality of being honest and having strong moral principles. Having integrity means being honest with yourself and others, and always keeping your word. Integrity is a highly valued trait because it helps us gain others’ trust, but more importantly, it’s what helps you love and respect yourself. Integrity means focusing on being the best version of yourself you can be.

FREE OCTA Bus Passes

Youth (ages 6-18) can ride all OC Bus fixed-route buses for free beginning this month with a new promotional pass offered by the Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA). There is no criteria to receive a pass, though an application is required.

The Youth Ride Free program is offered by OCTA. The passes will be valid through September 30, 2023. For more information, please visit OCbus.com/YouthRideFree or stop by Panorama with any questions.

Wednesday Schedule and CARES

On Wednesdays, brunch is served during recess instead of lunch at the end of the day. Due to this, students attending CARES will need to pack a lunch, if the snacks served are not sufficient. Picking up lunch from nutrition services will not be an option on Wednesdays. Please contact CARES with any questions about the snack schedule.

usagain Clothing Drop

On our campus, we have an USAgain drop-off bin. This bin is for used clothing, footwear, cloth accessories, and linen. Our school receives a small amount for each pound collected and USAgain plants a tree for each bin filled.

Lost and Found

Please be sure to label all lunchboxes, sweatshirts, and jackets. Items are already beginning to appear in our lost and found! If your child is missing an item, please remind them to check the lost and found outside of the office.

Nutrition Services

Breakfast and lunch will continue to be provided to all students at no cost this school year. Breakfast is served before school starts, beginning at 8:00. Please be sure to have your child here at 8:00, if you would like them to eat breakfast before school starts. This ensures they have enough time to finish.

You can find the breakfast menu here:

All students need to be sure they let their teacher know the day before they are buying lunch. We may not have enough lunches if they do not request one. Also, please remind your child that they should not be getting lunch if they are bringing one.

COVID-19 Procedures and Safety

Individuals who are sick or experiencing COVID-19 symptoms should contact their healthcare provider and stay home. If your child or a member of your household has tested positive or is awaiting COVID-19 test results, please follow public health guidance.

If your child tests positive for COVID-19 or experiences COVID-19 symptoms, please contact the school and/or email me at erosselli@orangeusd.org. We will gather information from you and provide you with your options.

If a student tests positive, they are required to isolate. The isolation guidance requires 10 days without testing from when symptoms began or a positive test (whichever comes first). The student can return to school on day 11; however, if a student tests negative on day 5 using an FDA-approved antigen test and all symptoms have improved that student is able to return to school on day 5. If a home test was used, students will need to bring the attestation form to the office upon their return. The student must be fever-free for 24 hours without fever-reducing medication.

Please refer to the OUSD Safety and Health Driven Plan and the County of Orange Health Officer’s Orders directly for more information.

The Orange Unified School District will be offering COVID-19 testing Monday through Thursday at the comprehensive high schools and the district office from 2:30 - 5:00.

See the flyer below to register for testing. You MUST register prior to arriving to test. Scan the QR code in the flyer or click here: https://apps.livingfitnation.com/covid/registration?q=ZC128mzcc9lFeeoTzoXp3w%3D%3D
