Good News

  • Congratulations to Mrs. Mathews who was recently named Athens State Alumni Educator of the Year. Mrs. Mathews works tirelessly, especially in the area of science, to challenge her students everyday so that they can reach their fullest potential. She is one of the many examples of the mighty fine educators we have at Walter Jackson.
  • Student Council's Can-a-Thon "Food Fight" came to an overwhelmingly successful end on Dec. 2. Walter Jackson students collected 2,302 food items for families in need! Students could choose to stack their food under either an AL or AU sign. AL led most of the time, but AU came up big the last day. As a reward, Mr. McDonald (AU fan) got to throw a pie in the face of Mr. Wakefield (AL fan). This goes to show how much pride students have in their school, community, and state. Great job, kids!

Calling all Library Lovers!

Want to help at school but don't know where to start? Mr. McDonald has started a special labeling project in the library to help students find "just right" books. If you want to help, please email him at todd.mcdonald@dcs.edu, and he will explain how you can help. Or, swing in to the library sometime, and he will show you around.
