We are excited about our return to in-person learning. If you have questions, please contact us.

Seniors who have opted to take SAT this year

Hello to the seniors who have opted to take the SAT this year!

We are scheduled to administer the SAT on Wednesday, September 23 with an arrival time of 8:00. Please note, because of the unique situation this year, there are additional safety protocols that MUST be followed. Please read through the following very carefully, and be prepared to follow instructions:

  • Before entering the building, each student MUST

    • have school ID

    • be wearing a mask

    • not have their cell phone on their person (unless prior arrangements have been made for medical reasons). Cell phones must be left at home or in the car.

    • not have a backpack

    • Have 2 #2 pencils and a calculator. Check here to see which calculators are allowed.

    • A water bottle; most water stations are not currently available in the building.

    • If you are unable to provide any of the supplies above, please contact me ASAP (and not the day of testing) by responding to this email, please. With advance notice, we will be able to help.

  • It is STRONGLY recommended to have some light snacks for scheduled breaks.

  • Additional information:

    • There will be a minimum of 6 foot distancing between test takers.

    • Social Distancing must be practiced at all times. 6 foot minimum

    • Failure to comply could result in prompt removal from the test

Thank you in advance for helping us to comply with these important safety protocols and procedures. We look forward to a successful testing administration! Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

Yearbook

Senior Picture Information

The MVHS yearbook is forging ahead to create lasting memories for our students and families in this strange school year. We are adjusting dates and still hashing things out, but we wanted to let the community know the date senior pictures will be due: Wednesday, November 11, 2020.

Please book photographers or let them know about this date. More detailed info will follow soon.

Football

Attention all interested football players! Fall football is happening! We will begin optional football practices Monday, September 21st; Tuesday, September 22rd and Wednesday, September 23rd.

The official start date for football is Thursday, September 24th. All clearance forms and paperwork needs to be completed before Thursday if you want to play. Talk to Mrs. Svendsen mae.svendsen@thompsonschools.org or Coach Mayes if you have any questions.

Chromebooks

If you are having issues with your chromebook, please contact Victoria Troup at (970) 613-7813 or victoria.troup@thompsonschools.org OR Robin Williams at (970) 613-7859 or robin.williams@thompsonschools.org.

OPTIONAL CHROMEBOOK INSURANCE FOR FAMILIES

Thompson School District has partnered with One2One Risk Solutions to provide optional accident and loss protection insurance for families for our district Chromebooks. Registering with One2One and purchasing a damage waiver will protect families from the full cost of repair or replacement for your district-issued device and limits your responsibility to a per-occurrence deductible (see below).

The protection plan cost is $15 per device and covers the device through the end of the school year against accidental damage, cracked screens, fire, liquid damage, electrical surge and loss/theft (a loss/theft claim requires a police report for coverage). First incident has a zero deductible, second claim on the same device will be a $25 deductible, and the third claim will be a $50 deductible. A loss/theft claim without a police report will require the replacement cost of the device (this varies depending on the make/model of the device). If families want to take advantage of this optional insurance, please visit www.one2onerisk.com and select “Enroll My Device” to get started. Open enrollment ends on September 30th so don't delay. Again, this is optional. Families are not required to get this insurance. This is only for Chromebooks, we have a 3-year warranty on iPad damage if it happens in its case, but no loss protection for iPads.

Technology Community Forum

Thompson School District will present a Technology Community Forum for Families on Thursday, September 24th from 6:30-7:30 pm. Comments and questions are being collected in advance using the online form at https://forms.gle/2v61ErdZgECJKhAX6. This form will also be open during the forum. Virtual Teen Self Care Fair

In past years a group, ImagineZERO Suicide has sponsored a teen self care fair for teens in Northern Colorado. This year it was cancelled due to Covid, However, Thompson Teens United collaborated with ImagineZERO to create a virtual self care fair.

The self care fair is accessed by teenselfcarefair.org . On this site there are resources for help, self-care activities, and the opportunity for earning scholarships and prizes up to $100. All students have to do is participate in some way. We have asked the Loveland and Northern Colorado community to help us with this endeavor. On this site you will find contributions from many community groups.

DECA and FBLA

Come Join DECA and FBLA!! What is DECA and FBLA? DECA as well as FBLA are business clubs that give real experience not only the aspects of business but also how to conduct yourself in a similar setting. In the club we travel to different colleges to compete against other high schoolers in “role plays” that force you to think on your feet as well as create a solution to your given problem. On top of this we do many fun events. The commitment is very small as we meet every other week, and have 2-3 actual events for each club. Come to our next chapter meeting September 16th at lunch! Come join us to just learn more about the clubs. If you have any questions or are interested reach out to Mr. Kaufhold at erik.kaufhold@thompsonschools.org or Ms. Bley at erin.bley@thompsonschools.org.

Knitting/Crocheting Club

Why Should You Join MVHS Knitting/Crocheting Club?

Once you get beyond the initial learning curve, knitting and crocheting can lower heart rate and blood pressure and reduce harmful blood levels of the stress hormone cortisol. But unlike meditation, craft activities result in tangible and often useful products that can enhance self-esteem.

If you are interested in joining please fill out this form:
