HOLY ROSARY NEWSLETTER
Term 4 Week 1 - 16 October 2020
FROM GEORDIE
Afternoon everyone and welcome back to Term 4,
It has been a fantastic start to the term with the weather turning it on and lots of fun and learning in our classrooms. I would like to thank all the parents and staff here at HR for their organised start to the term. Our students have come in energised, excited and ready to go, parents have been all across the photos and Summer school uniform and the teaching and learning has been engaging from Day 1!
Congratulations to all the students who are making their First Holy Communion this weekend, to the teachers who have supported them in their learning and to Father Peter, Aleana Brennan and Kaye Shervington for their work in organising the Sacrament during such a difficult time. A big effort by everyone. Congrats Year 4!
I am looking forward to getting up to the gym next Monday and Tuesday night for the Year 5 Night of the Notables evenings. I know that all the students have been working really hard on their displays and presentations and I am sure it will be a thoroughly entertaining experience for the students and their families. Good luck Year 5!
Tuesday Night is also our first P&F meeting for the term and I welcome anyone who is interested to come along to join Anita and the rest of the ladies. Look out in the newsletter soon as the P&F are looking for committee members, parent reps and more casual volunteers for 2021.
Finally, just to keep you updated on the build. As frustrating as it is that we still do not have action on the site, I would like to assure everyone that we are making progress in the background. The building approval is currently with the City of Stirling and we are working hard to have our builders on site soon. While I may have a few extra grey hairs, I know that the end result is going to be an amazing addition to our school and well worth the wait.
I hope everyone has a great weekend and is ready to go on Monday!

COMPLIANCE
Complaints
“The Director General of the Department of Education is responsible for ensuring that the school observes the registration standards, including the standard about its complaints handling system. Any student, parent or community member is entitled to contact the Director General with concerns about how the school has dealt with a complaint. Information is available on the Department of Education website16. While the Director General may consider whether the school has breached the registration standards, she does not have power to intervene in a complaint or override the school’s decision.”
Student Code of Conduct
We are currently working with all students from Pre Primary – Year Six in developing a Student Code of Conduct. By involving students in the development of their Code of Conduct, we hope to enhance their engagement in learning and their sense of pride in Holy Rosary. We hope to develop a sense of belonging, enhancing the feeling that they have been listened to and most importantly heard.
Environmental News
There is a lot going on at Holy Rosary in the environmental space! You may have noticed recently that there are large recycle bins around our school to collect and recycle paper from our rooms. As of this week, we have arranged for a new bin to collect bottles and cans for recycling! This is part of the ‘Containers for Change’ initiative and the best part is we get 10c for every container we collect. Our big bin is located in the bottom car park and we welcome parents to collect containers to be recycled. A list of the accepted containers is below.
Some of our dedicated upper primary students have led this new project and they are planning some fun ways to get everyone involved so look out for them in the coming weeks!

LIBRARY NEWS
Book week is finally here!! Next Thursday morning, 22nd October, will be our famous Book Week Parade. We have been speaking about this in our library sessions and the students have some great ideas of how dress as their favourite book character using items that they already have at home. If they have a bulky costume, they are encouraged to wear casual clothes underneath so they can still go about their school day afterwards.
Weather permitting, the Parade will be held on the Courts. In the event of bad weather, the Parade will be held in the gym which sadly means only the student body can attend.
Thanks for your support of this super fun event!
