From the School Counselor
Do you think a room full of second graders could sit still for one whole minute? Well they can, and they proved it to me by sitting in easy pose while doing balloon breath. Learning about self-control can be fun when a challenge is attached. When children practice this mindfully, they are also learning to listen, follow directions, stay motivated and complete many tasks. Although this can be more difficult for some children than others, childhood is a time where we can begin to encourage an understanding the benefits of slowing down. Talk to your child about strategies they could use to be successful. Lori Shaw, School Counselor LShaw@methacton.org or 610-489-5000 X41207
