WE'RE ALL LEARNING

STUDENTS: Students have spent some time this week learning about Martin Luther King, Jr. and focusing on kindness. Remember, you still have a couple days next week to bring food for our donation to the NL Food Pantry.

TEACHERS: On Thursday Penn teachers spent our professional development time learning more about being culturally proficient and preparing for the upcoming screening assessments.

NO SCHOOL this Monday, 1/15/2018 in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr

Winter weather calls for winter gear!

We go outside for recess everyday unless it is below zero degrees with the windchill. Kids love it when there's snow. It is an expectation that students wear boots and snow pants if they want to play in the snow. If they don't have these items, they are expected to stay on the blacktop areas only. Some of the grass-only activities include soccer, football and snowman building (so students would need snow pants and boots to participate in those activities) and playing on the structures. Blacktop choices include basketball and 4-square.

Please discuss these expectations with your children and help them come prepared with the right recess gear.

FOOD DRIVE for the NL Food Pantry

Martin Luther King, Jr. Day is on January 15 this year. We do not have school on this day, but we think it is important to teach our students about Dr. King and give them an opportunity to serve our community. So, when we return from break, we will collect non-perishable food for the NL Pantry. We will collect food from January 10 - 17

"Life's most persistent and urgent question is, "What are you doing for others?"
