Extra Reading Support
Anderson Elementary School - Fall 2019
Dear Parent/Guardian,
This month our grade level team of teachers met to review multiple pieces of student data in the areas of literacy and mathematics. When analyzing this information, we considered implications for classroom instruction and identified students who may benefit from additional targeted support to meet grade-level standards.
Based on this discussion, it was recommended that your child receive additional small group instruction in the area of literacy. The intent of this small group support is to complement the instruction that is being delivered in the classroom in order to help students strengthen their literacy skills. This will be in addition to his/her classroom reading instruction. This support will begin on September 30th and will be given four to five times a week for 30 minutes. Throughout the intervention, we will collect data to monitor your child’s progress and this will support our instructional decision-making. A classroom teacher or specialist will be meeting with your child, along with 2-5 other children, in a setting inside or outside of the classroom.
The purpose of this intervention is to provide your child with instruction to support them in demonstrating their ability to reach grade-level targets in reading and move toward their literacy goals. Additionally, regular ongoing practice of reading and writing skills outside of school is a crucial aspect of student achievement and acceleration of learning. Please continue your support at home as often as possible.
We are looking forward to working with your child. Please feel free to call or email your child’s classroom teacher with any questions, concerns or comments you may have. We will be in communication regarding your child’s progress.
Sincerely,
Mr. Jarot
Atentamente,
Mr. Jarot
