The Cat's Connection
March 2018
It's Been Awhile!
We have a few upcoming events that are highlighted below which I want you to be aware of, as we would love to have your participation. In the coming month we will hold spring conferences, our first full school reunification drill as well as our Open House & Exhibition Night, Art Bazaar and our Wildcat's Have Talent Show.
On another note, there has been some concern around our budget for the coming year and I have included our Superintendent's letter for your information below.
We are having a great year! Our kids continually impress us with their hard work and creativity. I'm proud of the work we are doing for kids at LaCreole! It's exciting to see our staff discover and learn along with the kids as we try new things to create meaningful experiences!
Glad you're here!

Spring Conferences Are Coming! March 20-21, 2018

If you are not signed up for Home Access but would like to be, please see Rhonda in the Counseling Center, email her at rhonda.hays@dsd2.org, or give her a call at 503-623-6663 and we'll get you set up with a login and password.
We look forward to seeing you!

Superintendent Budget Update
March 13, 2018
Dear Parents and Community,
I want to provide you with important budget information for Dallas School District. This time of year we normally have the reconciliation of the budget for the prior school year. This reconciliation is with Oregon Department of Education. Last school year we experienced a decline in enrollment which means we have a negative budget impact cover of $650,000. Our administrative team met on Wednesday and Friday last week to look for possible solutions. Our Board of Directors has approved a revised calendar for this school year. The three days that will be cut from this year are March 23 (conference day), May 4 (in-service day), and June 14 (last day of school). Parent conference schedules will be updated by each school. We have tried to be strategic and keep the days away from impacting our kids.
Sincerely,
Michelle Johnstone, Ed.D.
Superintendent
Dallas School District
