A Taste of Virtual Learning
Virtual Learning Frequently Asked Questions
The school day will begin at 8:30 AM each day. Students will have a lunch break from 12 PM-1 PM. They may return in the afternoon for tutoring.
What's the difference between the schedule I received from the school and the virtual schedule?
The paper schedule that you received is what your child will follow if they do face-to-face learning. It also gives the name of your child's teachers. The virtual schedule tells the student what time he will be in a live virtual class with his assigned teachers.
Will a different teacher teach my child?
No. The teacher that is on your child's paper schedule will be the one to instruct your child both virtually and face-to-face. This teacher will not change if you decide to remain virtual after Labor Day.
Will my child get Connections?
Yes. Students will have live classes with the Connections teachers based on the virtual schedule. They need to pay close attention to that schedule to see which days they will meet with those teachers. Also, the Connections assignments and instructional videos have been posted in the Connections teachers' Google Classrooms. Students should watch the instructional videos and complete assignments ahead of time. During the live Connections classes, students will get an opportunity to touch base with the teacher about the assignment that they have been working on.
What will counseling look like on Fridays?
Friday counseling sessions are not mandatory. However, we feel like this is a necessary time for students to be able to talk about what they are feeling. Many have not had contact with peers for months. This is a time that the counselors will be teaching students coping skills as well as time for students to socialize with their peers.
How will my child get instruction if we do not have internet service?
If you will be doing the packets, please download a QR Code scanner if you have an Android phone. If you have an Apple device you can scan the QR codes with your camera. Each QR code will link you to instructional videos, most of which are taught by Henderson teachers. We have taken care to make sure that both virtual and paper packet students are receiving the same instruction. Therefore, their assignments will be the same. Your teacher will let you know how to turn in assignments.
How can I get in contact with my child's teacher?
Please go to the "Academics" tab on the Henderson website to locate your teachers. When you click on the name of the teacher, it will take you to the teacher's webpage, and you will find their email link there.
