The Eagle's Nest

August 7, 2020- Volume 1- Issue 1

A Message From Mrs. Griggs

Greetings Eagle Family,

I hope you are all safe and well! This year, we will begin school like no other year in history! As the division has approved the Virtual + model in our R2L plan, we will welcome students back virtually for the first quarter. Our staff is ready and committed to ensure your students will receive outstanding instruction in the online platform, Schoology.

Our theme this year will be Mission Possible. While these days are new and present us with new challenges, we are resilient and will do this together. We will continue to thrive under the same mission and vision as in the past:

CMS will design learning opportunities where students engage in collaboration, problem solving, exploration, and innovation as they navigate their learning pathways. By promoting high standards and expectations, CMS will empower students, staff, parents, and community members to share in the opportunity to advance our school's vision and prepare students for their next level of learning.

Working together to create a safe and supportive environment that inspires and empowers students to excel both academically and as citizens.

You will receive "The Eagle's Nest" Newsletter weekly as a form of communication regarding the happenings at CMS. This week we are sharing information about new staff as well as virtual learning and important back to school dates. Thank you for your continued support and grace.

All in,

Mrs. Corinne Griggs

Principal, Caroline Middle School

Fees Update

We are excited to announce that CCPS has elected to utilize a portion of its CARES money to cover the Chromebook fee for all students!!! Additionally, CMS will not ask families to pay fees for classes that purchase supplies for students as they will be learning virtually. If we should return to the building before the end of the year, students enrolled in certain classes may be asked to pay the supply fee for that class if they are attending in person. These fees typically run between $5 and $10. We hope this helps offset costs you have accrued as a result of COVID-19 and the Virtual + Model.

A Welcome Message from the Teacher of the Year: Mrs. Coan

Welcome to the 2020-21 school year Eagles!

While this year is starting off a little different than many of us are used to, I don't doubt that this school year will be one for us to grow together as an Eagle family, stronger than ever. I'm never one to lie or sugar coat things, so believe me when I say we will face many challenges this fall, and quite possibly even into the spring. However, I know that no matter the difficulties faced in the upcoming months, as long as we stick together, and lift each other up, we will no doubt be successful. If you are apprehensive regarding the virtual teaching model, please reach out to me, another teacher, or a trusted advisor to ask questions, seek guidance, or to simply talk about the feelings this new situation brings. As we embrace this new change, please keep in mind we are all feeling stress regarding the way the year is starting, so let's be sure to build one another up, be kind, and most importantly look to this as something new and fun to keep us on our toes. Remember, we are all in this together and as #OneCaroline, we shall make it a phenomenal year!

It’s a long road ahead but I know we will succeed

We’re gonna raise these kids up, growing like a tree

And it’s all gonna start with just planting a seed.

A seed of hope, care, knowledge and kindness

Watering them with motivation and guidance

Shining a light on the future and horizons

We gotta work together cause nobody is an island.

Welcome back CMS let’s shine like diamonds!
