Attendance Corner:

Please remember that when your student is absent or will be absent from school a message, note, phone call, or email must be delivered within 48 hours to excuse the absence.

You are welcome to call the school at 972-244-7220

and leave a message anytime day or night in the main voicemail mailbox. Parents may also submit attendance notes for their student by emailing Ms. Carrera at pcarrera@lonestartx.org

Nurse/Immunization Corner:

All students need to have their immunizations up to date on or before Friday, September 28th, 2018. If the immunizations are not up to date on that date, the child cannot be at school. By Texas state law, he or she will remain out of school until the vaccinations are made current.

Parent letters addressing missing or out-of-date immunizations will be sent home the week of September 17th by Ms. Rodarte. If you have any questions please feel free to contact her at krodarte@lonestartx.org

POP ART with Coach Hurtado & Mr. Soto

Do you like looking at bold images of everyday items painted in bright colors? This type of art is called pop art and it began in the 1950s. Pop art is a style of art based on simple, bold images of everyday items, such as soup cans, painted in bright colors. Pop artists created pictures of consumer product labels and packaging, photos of celebrities, comic strips, and animals. This week LSLA students created a self portrait of themselves using pop art construction paper strips.

Message from Ms. Carrera:

We have so much going on at LSLA. We are very excited about our upcoming events, introduction to our Music Program and much more!

Please be sure to check your child’s backpack daily for important information from teachers and LSLA Administration.

Join Mr. Soto on Friday’s by participating in the different genre of music being taught. We ask students and staff to dress-up according to the genre. (Messages will be sent out via Ms. Carrera Remind App & LSLA Eagle Newsletter)

Spirit Week is fast approaching. What is Spirit Week? This is a time to promote school spirit, unify the student body and make fun memories your students and teachers will cherish for a lifetime.

National Hispanic Heritage Month takes place from September 15 to October 15, by celebrating the histories, cultures, and pay tribute to the generations of Hispanic Americans who have positively influenced and enriched our nation and society. LSLA students will learn a little background about Hispanic Heritage Month through classroom cultures, writing and illustrating their own folktale, and musical stories. These activities will take place during the Specials Class Block. (PE, Art, & Music)

Please make every attempt to attend the PTO meetings, the first Tuesday of each month. Your feedback and support are greatly needed and appreciated. If you have any questions or concerns please reach out to the PTO directly at PTO@lonestartx.org

Once more THANK YOU, parents, for working hand-in-hand with the LSLA Staff and Teachers.
