STAAR testing is over at Jackson! Our students were determined to make the best of the situation when there were technical difficulties and, once those issues were resolved, they were able to complete their tests with ease! We are so proud of our students!
Next week will be filled with fun grade level activities to wrap up the school year! Fifth grade graduation festivities will be held on Wednesday, May 26. We are going to miss our Fifth graders, but we know they are going to LOVE Middle School!
PTA will be selling 2020-2021 yearbooks in the Jackson foyer on Tuesday, May 25, and Wednesday, May 26, from 7:00 - 7:45 am. The price is $25.00 and they will accept cash or checks. Yearbooks that were pre-ordered online will also be delivered to the student's classroom during this time. In lieu of yearbook signing, teachers will be passing out index cards for our students to write notes to their friends. Students with a yearbook can tape a baggie inside the cover to keep all of the notes. Memories are priceless so purchase your yearbook before they are gone!
Prepackaged school supplies by grade are now available for purchase on PTA's website, www.jacksonpta.com. Supply packs will be delivered to your student's classroom when school starts in August. Skip the crowds and purchase your school supplies through PTA!
With the year winding down, we have made a plan for our School@Home students to return their technology. Please take a moment and read the letter below for dates and more details.
Library books for all students were due on May 14. Our virtual students can return any outstanding books when they come to turn in their technology.
Thanks,
Kamili Carthledge, Assistant Principal

Animals on School Property
Hello Parents,
While we all love our furry friends, student health and safety are our top priority here at Jackson Elementary. This is a friendly reminder to families and campus visitors that animals on school property are not permitted during the instructional day, unless they are part of the district’s instructional program, a service animal, part of the district’s security services or in conjunction with the Plano ISD Outdoor Learning Center as stated in Plano ISD Policy GKA(Local). Additionally, the City of Plano has ordinances regarding animals at large.
Please join us in preventing any future injuries and keeping our students safe. Your cooperation is appreciated.
Crystal Roach, Principal

Notes from Nurse Wheeler
Hello Parents!
If your student has ANY medication in the Jackson School Clinic, please make plans to pick-up the medication before Thursday, May 27, at 12:00 pm. After this date and time, ALL medication will be disposed of in accordance with PISD Policy.
Please keep in mind that students are prohibited from transporting medication TO or FROM the clinic. Medication will only be released to an adult. All controlled medications (ADHD meds, etc.) will need to be carefully counted with the nurse and a signature will need to be obtained for the release of the controlled substance.
If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to call, email or come by the school clinic prior to noon, Thursday, May 27. Thank you for allowing me to care for your student(s) this year.
Have a wonderful and safe summer!

COVID Health & Safety Protocols Update
On Tuesday, May 18, Governor Greg Abbott issued Executive Order GA-36 prohibiting governmental entities in Texas — including counties, cities, school districts, public health authorities or government officials — from requiring or mandating mask wearing. According to this Executive Order, public schools may continue to follow current mask-wearing guidelines through June 4.
As such, existing COVID Health & Safety Protocols will remain in effect through the end of the 2020-21 school year. Effective June 1, 2021, Plano ISD will implement updated protocols.
Please note the following updates, effective June 1:
- Masks/face coverings will be optional indoors and outdoors
- Social distancing will be maintained when feasible
- Handwashing or use of hand sanitizer will still be expected throughout the day
Individuals should consider their own vaccination status and COVID risk level when deciding whether or not to wear a mask.
COVID vaccines have had a profound effect on lowering our case counts over the past several months. In an effort to ensure that eligible Plano ISD students (ages 12 and up) have access and are given the opportunity to be vaccinated, we are in communication with local hospitals and healthcare providers regarding plans to hold vaccine events. As plans are finalized, additional information will be provided.
