Classroom News

We are in our third unit -My Family. Our key concept is similarities and differences with each other. We are asking that this week you send a picture of child as a baby. Please make sure it is a picture that can be trimmed and glued on. The next few weeks we will look at letters that are made by straight lines-L, F,E, H, T and I. In order to make this more fun, on Wednesday, your child will get to bring an item from home in a show and tell bag (a brown paper bag). Our letter for this week will be letter T. Please send it to school on Thursday for show and tell. Friday will be a very busy and quick day due to early release.

We will also be working on counting one to four objects in a set. We will focus on numeral 4 , sorting objects based on attributes (color, size, texture and shape) and a 4 sided shape-Rhombus(it used be called diamond).

Letter of the Week is T - Put something that starts with T in the brown paper bag

On Wednesday your child's teacher will send home a brown paper bag in your child's folder for you to place an item that starts with the letter of the week for Show and Tell on Thursday. Please make sure the item fits in the paper bag. Nothing bigger. When we are finished on Thursday with the item, we will send the item back with the child in their backpack or folder and keep the bags to send out the following Thursday.

Please make sure this is a school appropriate item to show students.

Examples for Letter T : Turtle, Tea bag, Tugboat, Turkey, Tuba and Thomas the Train.

Enchanted Learning has a picture dictionary- if you need other ideas

The ICE PTA will hold their annual Silent Auction on October 23, 5:30-7:30 in the gym. Proceeds will benefit ICE students and staff. The PTA is kindly asking that each grade donate items to be included in a themed basket. These baskets did extremely well at the auction last year!

The Pre-K teachers have chosen GARDENING as their basket theme! If you would like to send a new, garden-related item (seeds, bulbs, tools, gloves, etc.) to school with your child, please do so by October 19. Participation is optional.

Come to the auction to bid on this basket – or on many other wonderful items!

Contact Jessica Amason at with any questions or if you’d like to volunteer at the auction.

Thank you!

Parent Teacher Conferences and Report Cards

We want to thank the parents that have already come in to see us this week. We also want to thank you for signing up and being patient as we crave a little bit of time for each of you. We are talking about the progress of your child and how we can team together to make them a strong student for Kindergarten. Each teacher has made an appointment calendar available on line.

Mrs. Freedenberg's appointment calendar is at

For report cards, LISD does electronic report cards. If you should desire a paper copy you will need to go into SKYWARD and check the box for a paper report card. Teachers will not know if you have or have not checked the box in SKYWARD.

For Our Whole Day Parents

We need your assistance with lunch boxes. We need to have your child's two meals CLEARLY marked. On the container write BREAKFAST and LUNCH.

Please wash nap time blankets and return to school on Tuesday. There is nothing like napping on clean fresh bedding.
