Monday Morning Memo - Week 24
2/24/20
Dear Poupard Leaders,
Welcome Back
I hope you all had a relaxing break. I noticed how lucky we are to have that entire week off as many of my former colleagues in Oakland County were returning to work last Wednesday. My break was full of time with loved ones. I started off in Boston for a few days to assist my grandma to obtain her chemo treatment. It was certainly a long and grueling day but she powered through. We got to spend some quality time over the weekend and my grandma gifted me a couple of hand-knit winter hats. I'll be sure to wear these to show them off :)
After getting back to Michigan, we celebrated my mom's 54th birthday. It was the first time I saw my folks in nearly a month so some quality time was totally overdue.
We held a bowling event with Mason and Monteith. This was decently attended by all three schools and it was great for students and families to begin making new connections. I noticed a lot of students being nervous about approaching kids they haven't met before so this will definitely need to be a skill we should focus on before the end of the school year.
While driving back from Chicago, I caught food poisoning late Sunday night. I will definitely be avoiding that exit the next time I make the trip!! Thankfully, after about 12 hours of agony, I'm feeling significantly better and excited to be back in action with you all this morning! Looking forward to hearing about your Midwinter Break adventures and hopefully, they ended better than mine.
1 on 1 Data Meetings - Reminder!
I'd like to meet with each teacher in order to complete a data dive. It will be important for us to review how our Tier 1,2,3 students are performing/responding to instruction. Please work with Cindy to schedule a time for either this week or the week we return from break. I would like to have everyone's 1 on 1 data meeting completed by early next week.
Please consider these questions leading up to your meeting:
- What do you notice?
- What do you wonder?
- What do I want to celebrate?
- How are students I targeted in the BOY performing?
- What have the students mastered?
- What are my next steps?
Leaders are not born, they're made.

Class Newsletters
Please share your weekly newsletters with me by "Ccing" me when they are emailed out to families. This allows for me to stay connected with all of the exciting things happening inside of your classrooms.
GES3
Our GES3 meeting dates and deadlines have been established by the team. You can access that information below. It will also be made available on our Poupard Schoology page.
GES3 Dates and Information Page
Walkie Talkie
All Classroom Teachers should have received a Walkie Talkie. Please take it with you when you take your students outside for an extra recess. The office staff will use it to locate individual students, typically for early dismissal.Emergency Information
Please be sure to review all of the emergency information for fire drills and tornado drills inside of your classrooms. We will be doing a sweep to make sure your emergency bags are stocked with everything that necessary and include updated rosters as they become available.
Behavior Referrals
Behavior Referrals must be completed using the Online Behavior Form. Staff must complete the behavior form anytime a student is sent down to the office for a major office referral. Homeroom Teachers and Special Area Teachers are responsible for contacting the family to notify them of any incidents that occurred inside of the classroom. Please call home over an email whenever possible. Personally, I'd recommend sharing anything over 3-4 sentences over a phone call as well.
