Hawk Happenings

News for the HRRS/Juan Diego Academy Community

Principal's Message - Oct. 7th (English)

Happy Wednesday!

I want to thank those of you who attended last week's Bilingual Information Night. It was wonderful to have an opportunity to view the film on bilingual education and have a Q & A session afterward. Parents had excellent questions and we had an outstanding discussion, led by Dr. Bridget Yaden!

It was also great seeing so many families exhibiting school spirit at the CYO Cross Country meet last Sunday. I had a chance to go and cheer on our little Hawks and what I saw amazed me. It wasn't just the amazing tenacity of all of our runners, or the spirit shown by the families cheering everyone on, it was something that I witnessed at the end of the day. One of our runners was the last in her race, far behind all of the other runners. She never gave up, though. Beyond this, I watched as the students who had already run their races, but stayed to cheer older kids on, ran back down the course and jogged the last quarter mile with her. They wanted to support her and let her know she wasn't alone. That was amazing to watch. This is the community we have built...one that never lets anyone fail. We are all here to support each other in whatever way we can. As we read in Matthew 25:40, ‘whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’ Thank you to our students who remind us every single day what this truly looks like. Thank you also to Coach Freeman for modeling the importance of teamwork! Go Hawks!

Have a wonderful week!

Missing Uniforms??

Between the recent warm weather and the changing of clothes for Cross Country, some uniform items have gone missing. Many parents have labeled their children's uniforms, so please check to be sure that the sweaters and other items that you have belong to you. If you have ended up with someone else's uniform, please drop it off at the front desk. Thank you!!
