Spring Testing- Begins Monday, April 24th!

Please take a moment to review Steele's Spring Testing Calendar as End of Course Exams begin this Monday, April 24th!


Due to EOC testing, we will have a two-hour late arrival (D-Schedule) on April 24th, April 25th, April 28th, May 1st, May 2nd, and May 8th. Please note, April 24th and 25th are on a modified Schedule.


Only students who are testing report to school at the normal time. Students who ride a bus and are not testing may wait in the cafetorium. Students not testing will report to school by 10:05am on April 24th and 25th and 9:45am on April 28th, May 1st, May 2nd, and May 8th.


Testing locations will be emailed to students and posted on the counseling office window. If you have any questions, please contact your child's counselor. Students taking End of Course Exams must bring their chromebook fully charged and arrive to their testing room on time.

Class of 2023 Graduation Details

The Marion L. Steele High School class of 2023 plans to hold its Commencement Ceremony on Saturday, May 27th at Cleveland State University's Wolstein Center beginning at 3:00 pm.

School Fees

School fees need to be paid in full in order to attend Prom, receive your cap and gown, and to receive your diploma. Please contact Mrs. Doehr, financial secretary, if you need to set up a payment plan. She can be reached at 440-988-1422.

MLS COUNSELING DEPARTMENT

Senior Honors and Awards Banquet

Invitations to the senior honors and awards banquet were mailed out to senior students who will be recognized at the banquet. Recognitions at the banquet will include National Merit Scholars, Yearly Academic Awards, Honors Cord, Honors Diploma, Military Enlistment, and Scholarship Awards. In the invitation, recognitions will be marked for each student. As a reminder, all students and their guests will have to purchase tickets to attend by April 27th.

COMET Award

Seniors: The nomination form for the (Candidate for Outstanding Mentor in the Educational Team) C.O.M.E.T. Award is now available! The COMET Award is given to recognize a staff member who has had the most positive effect – educationally, professionally, or personally – on a graduating student’s life. The nominations are made in writing, by students, to the Board of Education, who select the finalists. This award was established by the Amherst Exempted Village Schools Board of Education in 1996. Students have access to the form in an email from Ms. Santos or they can stop by to see her for a copy. Nominations are due by May 12th to Ms. Santos; students can email or drop off their completed nomination form.

Student Seal Opportunity:

Students wanting to earn the Readiness Seal for Community Service over the summer as a graduation requirement, see Mr. McConihe room 110 at Marion L. Steele. Information will be provided for volunteer jobs at summer swim meets at Anna Schmauch Pool at Maude Neiding Park:

Department News: Math Department

The Steele Math Department has been working hard along with the students preparing for End of Course Exams in Algebra and Geometry. Those tests will be May 1st and 2nd. AP Calculus is preparing for their exam on May 8th. They are looking to surpass last year's scores that were above state and global averages.

April 26th: Track & Field vs. Olmsted Falls, Meet starts at 4:30p, Senior Night will be around 7p

April 27th: Softball vs. Olmsted Falls, Senior Night will start at 4:45p followed by the Game

May 3rd: Boys Volleyball vs. Avon Lake, Senior Night will start at 6p followed by the Match

May 13th: Baseball vs Lorain, Senior Day will start at 11:50a followed by the game at Noon

Summer Job Opportunity

Looking for a summer job? Be a LIFEGUARD Anna Schmauch Pool at Maude Neiding Park this summer. Contact janderson@amherstohio.org for application Students training will be reimbursed at end of summer if receipt shown that they worked at the Amherst Pool. Lifeguard applicants must be 16 as of June 1st.
