Only One You by Linda Krantz There's only one you in this great big world. Make it a better place! Adri's mama and papa share with their eager son some of the wisdom they have gained through the years. Their words, simple and powerful, are meant to comfort and guide him as he goes about exploring the world. This exquisitely illustrated book explodes with color and honest insights. Kranz's uniquely painted rockfish, set against vibrant blue seas, make an unforgettable and truly special impression. Only One You will inspire parents and children of all ages as they swim through life. Interactive Parenting Ideas:
- After reading Only One You, find rocks and have each person paint a rock that uniquely reflects them. Talk about the positive each family member has. Display the rocks outside or inside to remind all family members that you are stronger together but each unique.
- Sing and chant the 5 Little Pumpkins chant/book. Model using your 5 fingers during the song. Search YouTube for some creative videos to sing along.
- After reading Pumpkin Jack you could: buy a pumpkin and carve a Jack O' Lantern, paint a pumpkin, or cut open a pumpkin and use your 5 senses to explore the pumpkin.
- Visit a local farm and explore together.
- Make a healthy fall snack from the website below. Be sure to give everyone in the family a job to do.
- Use the 30 days of Fall Family Fun to create meaningful learning experiences with your children and family.
- Check out Parent Resources from SAMHSA on ways to talk you your children about alcohol and substance abuse. (See link below)
Parent Educator Spotlight

Parent Educator, Sylvia McCoy, had served YSD1 for 21 years! She started as our first and only parent educator and has helped the program expand over the past 21 years. Mrs. McCoy is wonderful at creating local resource connections and making sure that the families she serves have their basic needs in order to focus on engaging with their children.
