Announcements
Parents
Here are this week's announcements:
* Report cards were passed out this past week during your child's sixth period class.
* Today at 6pm we will have a theatre production of "Governing Alice". Performance begins at 6pm. We will have a second showing tomorrow, Sunday January 19th at 4:30pm. Hope to see you there!
* We had a very successful school dance on Friday night. Students had a lot of fun dancing and visiting with their friends. Thank you to our MMS PTSA for sponsoring the event. Also, please continue to support our MMS PTSA. There is a section in this newsletter that has some information regarding upcoming MMS PTSA events.
* On Friday, we passed out our 2nd 9 weeks awards for A honor roll/AB honor roll/Perfect attendance. It was brought to my attention that the wrong report was given to me therefore some of the awards were incorrectly distributed. We are correcting this matter and will reissue awards to students next Friday. I apologize for any confusion this may have caused.
* We are selling new MMS school spirit shirts. Cost is $15 and deadline to purchase is February 3rd. All proceeds will go towards the end of the year 6th grade field trip. We appreciate any help you can provide. Here is the website
https://hayscisd.revtrak.net/pending-products/Middle-School-Pending/#/v/MMS-Spirit-Shirt-998
* This Thursday, February 23rd, is our spring pep rally. Parents are invited to attend. Pep rally will be at 3:00pm.
* We are starting a 15 day attendance challenge starting on Tuesday. Students that have perfect attendance the next three weeks (January 21st- February 10th) will receive an ice cream party. Please encourage your child to attend school every day.
I appreciate all of the work you do for your child and please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

2020-2021 Hays CISD Student Transfer Information
Dear Hays CISD Parents,
The window to request student transfers will open on January 6, 2020, at 8:00 a.m. The deadline to submit a student transfer request is January 31, 2020 at 4:30 p.m.
When it’s activated on January 6, the transfer application link will be located on the transfer webpage at: www.hayscisd.net/studenttransfers.
All student transfer requests must be submitted electronically. No transfer requests will be accepted after the deadline at 4:30 p.m. on January 31, 2020.
Transfer requests will be processed throughout February and an email response to the address provided will be sent by the first Friday in March. For more information, or to email the transfer office with any questions, please visit the student transfer page at www.hayscisd.net/studenttransfers.
View the attendance zone maps and a street-by-street attendance zone list at www.hayscisd.net/zones.
General or Regular Student Transfers
Hays CISD allows general transfers for students as long as they remain in their high school feeder patterns and the campus they are requesting has open seats. The campuses open for new transfer requests are listed on the district’s transfer webpage. Students who are on current regular transfers for reasons other than the rezoning do not need to reapply for a transfer next year. Those transfers will continue through the last grade level at the student’s transfer campus.
PLEASE NOTE: HIGH SCHOOL SIBLING TRANSFERS
As a reminder, if you applied for a high school sibling transfer so your child could attend high school with their older sibling, please note:
- Transportation will not be provided after the 2020-2021 school year.
- This is the last year we will accept high school sibling transfers so all younger siblings will have to attend their zoned campuses.
Please consider these notes when making your decision.
PLEASE NOTE: ELEMENTARY TRANSFERS
As a reminder, when your child completes 5th grade, they will be assigned to their zoned middle school campus. Your student will not continue on with their same peer group unless the campus you selected feeds into your same zoned middle school.
Please consider this factor when making your decision.
Remember to bring your ID
Sign up for late bus..MAKE SURE STUDENTS SELECT THE CORRECT DATE!
Students must be signed up at least 24 hours prior to the date needed. Students will not be allowed on the late bus if they are not on the list.

Counselor Corner
Throughout the school year, one of the main ways parents can support their children academically is to check student grades. This is a great activity for students and parents to do on a weekly basis together in order to set short term goals for self-improvement.
At Hays CISD we use Career Cruising to help prepare students for their future. Career Cruising provides students with an interest inventory, learning styles inventory, career information, college information, and financial aid information to help set long term goals.
If you have any questions or concerns about your child, please do not hesitate to contact their grade level counselor. Dr. Cervantes or Mrs. Rodriguez would be happy to meet with you personally to discuss your questions/concerns or talk by phone. Please call first to set up an appointment since we are usually with students during the school day.
