A Note from Mrs. Williams
Hello Schluter Families!
It was another wonderful week at Schluter! On Wednesday, many of our 2nd-5th grade students competed in our campus UIL competition. We are looking forward to hearing the results from across the district to see how our students did! We also had several student teams compete in the regional District Imagination competition this past weekend. We had two teams place with medals, and several other teams were recognized. We are so proud of their hard work and creativity!
This week, we also held our PTA Boosterthon Fun Run outdoors! Our students had a great time running and celebrating getting pledges. Thank you SO much for your donations and pledges! We will get the final numbers next week and find out if I'll be sleeping on the roof this Spring. :) This was our students reward if we reached our $20,000 goal. Stay tuned!
This week, we also celebrated Karen Rios, our diagnostician for Diagnostician's week as well as Mr. Donnie, one of our amazing crossing guards for his birthday. Overall, it was a wonderful week of celebrations.
Next week we are so excited to host Open House on Tuesday, 5:30pm-7:00pm. Our students are teachers are looking forward to showing off the awesome learning and progress they've had over the course of this year. We will have Dinosaur George on behalf of PTA here as well! We hope you can join us!
Have a great weekend, and we hope to see you at Open House on Tuesday evening!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Williams

Enrollment boom propels NISD’s expected 5-year increase to double
This fall, Northwest ISD added more than 2,200 students from the same time frame last year, which represents an 8.7% enrollment increase. That increase is expected to continue for many years to come. Demographic experts project Northwest ISD will reach an enrollment of 37,370 students in five years (2026-2027) – representing an increase of almost 10,000 students. The new projection is roughly double the previously expected increase of about 5,000 new students over five years.

Reminders of COVID procedures
Reporting COVID Results: Reporting positive COVID results helps us monitor cases at each school and inform potential close contacts. Please report any positive COVID results using this form.
Don’t Attend if Sick or Awaiting Results: If a student or staff member is exhibiting symptoms or awaiting COVID test results, please do not come to school. This helps prevent potential COVID spread, and keeping our students and staff safe and healthy is our top priority.
Testing at School: If a student or staff member begins exhibiting symptoms at school, he or she can receive a COVID test in the school nurse’s office. Consent forms for these tests are available on our COVID website. To reiterate the prior point, however, do not come to school if already sick – please seek an external testing location.
In-District Testing: A testing location is available in the parking lot of Old Texan Stadium, across the street from Northwest ISD Stadium. This program, operated by a third-party vendor, is free for a general COVID test. Information about this location is available on our website.

Free Meal Program Extended for Elementary, Middle Schools
All Northwest ISD students in elementary and middle school will continue receive free breakfast and lunch meals during the 2021-2022 school year! While students in high school will not take part in the same program, they can continue to apply for free or reduced-price meals.
Though meals are free to all elementary and middle school students, we strongly encourage families to continue to apply for the free and reduced-price meal program, as there are further benefits that can help reduce financial hardship. An accurate count of students in need also helps provide the appropriate programs at schools. Anyone who previously applied for the free or reduced-price meal program or believes they may now qualify based on their financial circumstances should still apply. This will also ensure these students receive free or reduced-cost meals for at least the first 30 days of the 2022-2023 school year.
