4.4- The Effect of Temperature

(on solubility)

Important Notes

-use different scooper for A and B

-keep stirring rod in test tube for entire lab (don't switch, don't want to contaminate)

-not too much water in beaker

-observe and stir constantly while heating

-stir gently, don't tap up and down

Blue-dot Questions

1. What do you observe? THAT SUBSTANCE B BEGINS TO DISSOLVE WHEN TEMPERATURE RISES. SUBSTANCE A REMAINS UNCHANGED.

2. Do the solubilities of the substances appear to cahnge equally or differently as the temperature of the water is increased? DIFFERENT, THE SOLUBILITY OF B INCREASES WHEN THE TEMPERATURE INCREASES. THE SOLUBILITY OF A REMAINS THE SAME.
