PRESIDENCY MESSAGE
Our theme in primary for the month of October is "The Mission of the Church Is to Invite All to Come unto Christ". Our primary friends are such good examples of inviting all to come unto Christ. They have told stories about sharing the gospel with their non-member friends, singing primary songs on the school bus, and inviting non-member neighbors to activities. I am so thankful for their eagerness to share the good news of the gospel with others. Likewise, our full-time missionaries invite ALL to come unto Christ every day. I know our family has been blessed by the presence of missionaries in our home.
In General Conference this past weekend, Elder Gary E. Stevenson said that he had been agonizing over his inadequacies this past week as he had been called to serve as a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles. He received a distinct impression which both chastened and comforted him: to focus not on what he couldn't do but rather on what he could do... "I can testify of the plain and precious truths of the gospel. These are words which I have shared hundreds of times with both those who belong to the Church and many who are not members: “God is our loving Heavenly Father. We are His children. … He weeps with us when we suffer and rejoices when we do what is right. He wants to communicate with us, and we can communicate with Him through sincere prayer. Heavenly Father has provided us, His children, with a way to return and live in His presence. Central to Heavenly Father’s plan is Jesus Christ’s Atonement” (Preach My Gospel: A Guide to Missionary Service [2004], 31). I know that as we pray for these opportunities to invite others to come unto Christ, our testimony will be strengthened and we will be blessed.
Much Love,
Sister Huntsman
