St. Mike's Matters - Thursday Notes
September 28th, 2017 Issue #4
Dear St. Michael Families,
St. Michael Parish School is deeply committed to providing tuition assistance to all families demonstrating financial need. All families who request tuition assistance for the 2018-2019 school year are invited to apply for tuition assistance through the Fulcrum Foundation Tuition Assistance Grant Program. Both Fulcrum and St. Michael Parish School use the same application process and timeline. By applying to Fulcrum, you are also applying for tuition assistance through our school’s endowment. Tuition assistance will only be granted for next school year by completing this application process.
The tuition assistance application window opens on October 1st. The Fulcrum Foundation is hopeful that more families will take the opportunity to apply earlier, before the busy holiday months and school breaks. If you plan to apply for tuition assistance for the 2018-2019 school year, then you need to apply by the deadline of January 5, 2018.
The Fulcrum Foundation is partnering with FACTS to manage the collection and processing of tuition assistance applications. Award decisions will be made by Fulcrum and will be based on financial need. The partnership between Fulcrum and FACTS carries many benefits and creates an efficient and streamlined tuition assistance application process. Some of these benefits include eliminating the need to submit application paperwork to the school (everything is submitted electronically) and just one application is needed per family (elementary and high school students at multiple schools are included on one family application).
Each applicant family will pay a $24 fee to FACTS for the processing of your tuition assistance application. The application can be accessed here: https://online.factsmgt.com/aid
Once an online application has been completed, please send the required supporting documentation to FACTS. All of this documentation can be uploaded in PDF format online:
- Copies of your most recent Federal tax forms including all supporting tax schedules.
- Copies of your W-2 forms for both you and your spouse.
- Copies of supporting documentation for Social Security Income, Welfare, Child Support, Food Stamps, Workers’ Compensation, and TANF.
Please note that your application is not complete and you will not be eligible for tuition assistance through the Fulcrum Foundation or our school’s endowment if you have not submitted the requested documentation. Documentation can also be faxed to 866-315-9264 or mailed to FACTS. If you have questions or concerns about the application process, you may speak with a FACTS Customer Care Representative at 866-441-4637.

Thursday After School Art Classes – 2nd Class Added!!!
Art For Kids School will again be offering after school art classes at St. Michael’s School for the Fall 2017 semester.
These are ongoing classes, open to new and returning students, and projects are not repeated. The program is process oriented and designed to enhance your child’s enjoyment of art and creative expression. The emphasis in the program is to acquaint children with various materials, and to develop skills, thereby enhancing their self-esteem in regard to their creativity (in a technique-based, sequential learning program, similar to piano lessons). Children will have an opportunity to explore their creativity through a variety of materials including pen and ink, watercolors, acrylics, pastels, clay, and plaster. Drawing techniques are incorporated in these classes as well as painting and sculpting techniques. Classes will be taught by a professional, degreed artist.
Classes will take place after school on Thursdays, from 3:10–4:10pm. We are opening up a second class at St. Mikes starting September 28, 2017 through January 25, 2018. After the first week combined, we are going to divide the kids into younger/older age groups and split the class. Please note a commitment is required for the entire semester. Two payment options are available—payment in full of $168 or 3 equally divided payments of $56 (this works out to be $12 per class). Additionally, there is a $5 registration fee. Please see website for further info. All supplies are included.
To enroll your child, please visit www.artforkidsschool.com. Complete the online registration form and submit payment to secure a space for your child. Registration is available online only. For other questions/info, please contact us at (360) 539-9220 or at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Registration is now open – please register before classes start! Classes are small and prompt registration is essential to reserve a space!
