A Newsletter to Keep Parents Informed
Journey to Excellence
* We hope this newsletter helps to keep you informed of things going on at Elkins and answer any questions you may have. Feel free to call the office with any questions or email administration (Kori Werth kwerth@ems-isd.net & Bobby Jackson bjackson@ems-isd.net) if you have questions or concerns you need addressed. Our door is always open, and we want to work with partners to help your children be successful!
*All Eagle Mountain-Saginaw ISD parents are invited to take part in this year's District and School Climate Survey. Each year, we ask for parents’ feedback on important topics including educational programs, district and campus leadership, facilities and operations, budget and finance, communications, and safety and security. The 2017-2018 survey window will close Thursday, March 26.
Please check your email for a personal invitation and survey link. You can also participate by clicking on the following link:
or by requesting a paper survey from the EMS ISD Communications Department. The online survey is available in both English and Spanish, and is compatible with any computer, tablet, or smartphone.

Taking a TRIP to Reach our Attendance Goal
Don't forget about our attendance incentive!
With flu season on the downward run (we hope), we need to work HARD to increase our attendance percentage for the next 2 six weeks periods! This past 6 weeks was a hard one with so many illnesses around. We did announce our winners for the 4th six weeks today, but the list was a lot shorter of those students who were able to have perfect attendance for this six weeks.
We are seeing more and more tardies as well. Please remember that the tardy bell rings at 7:35! If you get here at 7:35 or after, your student is considered tardy. Please help us to get all students in class and on time by arriving in plenty of time for your student to walk to class and be ready to learn by 7:35. This means they need to be here by 7:30. We appreciate your cooperation on this matter.
Just to ensure you remember our attendance incentive program, it is listed below. The students LOVE winning these awards, and the parents have been excited as well! We know that a large part of elementary attendance is dependent upon the parents, so that's why we decided to reward you all for your hard work as well. Thanks so much to those of you who continuously have your students here on time and ready to learn. You are very much appreciated.
TRIP = Taking Responsibility of the Importance of Being Present)
In order to help promote attendance, we will be doing individual incentives to show our appreciation for our students AND parents who work hard to get here EACH day ON TIME.
Each six weeks, a drawing will take place for each student who has PERFECT (no absences and no tardies) for the 6 weeks.
* students entered into drawing for Altitude jump pass
* parents entered into drawing for $25 Visa gift card
The class with the highest attendance percentage will receive a popcorn party!
At the END OF THE YEAR, each student with perfect attendance will be entered into a drawing for a bike! We will have 8 bikes, so 8 students will win!!! The grade level with the highest attendance percentage will win a pizza party for their ENTIRE GRADE LEVEL!!
Help us reach our attendance goal of 97% (as a campus) for the 2017-2018 school year! We appreciate your support as we work together to take a TRIP!
