Steps:

- Find contact information using The Aggie Network -> Find an Aggie or via LinkedIn.
- Use the contact information to send an email or a direct message to introduce yourself and state your request for an informational interview, and ask to schedule 15-20 minutes to learn about the person's career and ask for advice.
- Conduct an effective informational interview with active listening skills.
- Don’t forget to send a thank you note for the contact.
Example Questions:
- How did you get your start in this field?
- How has your occupation changed since you began? How will these changes affect someone like me who will be entering the field in the near future?
- What part of your job would you like to change?
- If you were to develop a to-do list, what current skills would you like to upgrade and what new skills would you like to acquire?
- How have your career goals changed through your career? What would you like to approach next?
