Holiday Party - Care Package Project Drive
As the winter holidays approach, we are reminded that not all families will have their loved ones home to celebrate with. Many men and women of our armed forces will be spending this holiday season overseas. As a way to show support to those who serve in our military and as a way to help our students reach out philanthropically this season, we will be decorating cards for the troops during our craft time at the winter holiday party. These cards will be sent overseas via the LCpl. Eric A. Palmisano Care Package Project (http://palmisanocarepackageproject.org/). We encourage you to let your children know in advance about making these cards, in the event they have any questions. In this way, you will be able to share whatever information you are most comfortable with them receiving about our troops. There is also a link on the site to dozens of thank you letters from troops who have already received care packages - your children might really enjoy seeing how much our servicemen and women value these donations!
Any student that is interested is invited to bring with to the party $0.50 and either chapstick, travel hand sanitizer, and/or gum to donate with the cards. Sending care packages to our soldiers overseas can be very costly, and every little donation helps! Plus, it will be nice to send a small treat with the cards to the troops!
Philanthropy Club CASA drive
Help fulfill a holiday wish by giving to a child in need. The Philanthropy Club’s annual CASA Lake County drive will be underway Nov 19th-Dec 7th. On November 19th, there will be paper houses on an easel in the foyer at Walden. Each house will indicate a need that a child in Lake County is hoping to have filled. Please choose a house (or more than one house!), sign up on the sign-up sheet, and then return your unwrapped gift, gift receipt and house by Dec 7th. The donation bin is also located in Walden’s front lobby.
If you prefer to sign up on-line, please use the following link: https://www.timetosignup.com/waldencaresforcasa The link will be live on November 16th.
Thank you for giving to those less fortunate here in Lake County!
