Clear Plastic Bottles for STEAM Night
April 12 is Family STEAM Night, and two different grade levels (Grades 2 and 4), and Creative Minds, are doing projects that require plastic soda bottles for each student. We are in need of clear plastic soda bottles in the following sizes; 2 liter, 1 liter, 20 oz, and 16 ounce. Pepsi bottles are the perfect size and shape, but others can work also. Please email Mr. Oxley at boxley@mhlt.org if you have questions.

Counseling Corner
Here's what's happening in MHLT guidance classes this month! We're entering our units on emotional management. Our feelings can be complex, and learning how to regulate them is important for our relationships and academic focus. Students who learn to properly manage strong emotions can identify their feelings easily and calm themselves down before they lose control.
We often see that the physical reactions to anger, embarrassment, worry, or fear come quickly and strongly in some students, and the behaviors that follow can be unhealthy. In our Second Step Lessons for 5th-7th grades, students are learning how to use a pause signal, identify a specific emotion, and then calm their bodies using deep breathing, positive self talk, counting, and visualization.
Students in lower grades this week are learning to identify and understand feelings, a precursor to calming. They are learning about situations that can cause strong feelings, and they are learning how to name a specific feeling.
