Our Mission:
A Note from Miss Pape
Dear Lincoln Families,
It's hard to believe that we're already well through October. Our PTA was so excited to host the Scholastic Book Fair last week. There was also a wonderful turnout for our first PTA Rec Night! Thank you to all who came. PTA's Pumpkin Patch contest will occur this coming week as well!
This Tuesday, October 25, Dr. Heinz will be hosting an informational meeting about the district's Moving 15 Forward plan. This plan addresses three major areas of improvement: Repair and Restore Facilities, Update Learning Spaces, and Improve Student Transitions. The plan would also bring Full-Day Kindergarten to our elementary schools. Learn more about the plan at www.ccsd15.net/Moving15Forward and please join us at the presentation at Walter R. Sundling Jr. High School at 6:00 pm this Tuesday.
Coming up this week will also be the return of our 4th Grade Musical. The 4th grade students have been hard at work practicing for their performance. We're ready to see them show off their skills this Thursday, October 27 at 7:00 pm!
Finally, Lincoln is proud to announce that we are now a Bilingual Ukrainian school site. For many years, Lincoln has been considered a Bilingual Spanish site by the state of Illinois. Per state regulations if an attendance center has 20 or more students who qualify for EL services and speak the same language, a district is mandated to establish a Transitional Bilingual Education (TBE) program for those students. Further assessment determines what those services may look like in District. Lincoln recently became the first school in District 15 to reach over 20 students who speak Ukrainian, so there will now be an established Transitional Bilingual Education program for these students. D15 also offers bilingual programs in accordance with state mandates in Spanish, Polish, Japanese, Telugu, Tamil, Bulgarian, Hindi and Korean. For more information about D15's Multilingual Programming, please visit their website here. We welcome all of our new families to Lincoln School!
Best,
Ellen Pape

1:15-1:30 Students will parade within the building to see others' costumes and then outside so parents can see. We will exit Door 2 and Enter Door 4. Our partners at the Police Department will be around to help supervise. The parade route for outside is indicated in the map below.
1:30-2:00 Classroom Halloween Parties will take place, which are sponsored and organized by our PTA and our parent volunteers. Only parents who are signed up to help with classroom parties will be allowed to participate. Students will be dismissed from school at 2:15 pm.
Students are welcome to bring their Halloween costumes to school to put on before the party. Costumes need to be able to be put on independently by the student and go over their clothes. Please keep this in mind when choosing a costume for this year. More detailed costume guidelines can be found in the CCSD15 Parent/Student Handbook and are outlined below:
Per the Student Handbook: Students are permitted to wear costumes on Halloween as long as their attire complies with the above student appearance policy and meets the following set of expectations for a school setting:
- Children should not wear bloody, gruesome, or especially scary costumes. Costumes involving fake blood are not allowed.
- Actual weapons, look-alike weapons, toy weapons or weapon-like objects are not allowed.
- Masks that cover the face and head are not allowed.
- Costume make-up is allowed provided it does not cover the student’s entire face. Staff members must be able to identify students.
- Costumes that could be offensive or perpetuate a stereotype about someone’s culture, gender, heritage or religion are not allowed.
