The Importance of Freshman Year and Career Cruising
Mrs. Rosenbaum and Mrs. Sproule spent two days in the classroom with all of our 9th grade students. The first day freshmen learned about the importance of freshman year, how many credits are needed to graduate, how many regents exams are needed to graduate, different diploma types, what happens if they fail a course, what a transcript is, how a transcript is used, and that for most students their transcript began in 8th grade with their language grade.
The second day our freshmen completed the Career Cruising assessment. We helped students identify 3 career clusters they would like to learn more about. In English class students will continue with the Career Connect program they began last year. They will complete a research project on a career and attend a career exploration field trip in the spring.
We showed students how we will continue to use the Career Cruising program as a tool to help with high school planning and college/career planning.

SUNY Roadshow and Senior Meetings
The SUNY Roadshow was here to kick off the college application process for all seniors and provided a wealth of information.
Senior meetings have begun. If your child has not made an appointment with Mrs. Rosenbaum or Mrs. Sproule, please encourage him/her to do so as we use this time to determine plans for next year and what needs to be done (brag sheets, resumes, letters of recommendation, applications etc.).
