The Spencer Scoop
Spencer Elementary - April 24, 2020
Hello Spencer Families,
I hope this week has helped connect you with your child's teacher and possibly "seeing" some of their classmates. I've heard many success stories, and it warms my heart. It's just good to see and connect.
I miss strolling into the Spencer office, where Dr. Brick and Mrs. Blueberry greet me.
These two powerhouses take care of some of the biggest and unexpected challenges with ease and always have a ready smile. In every situation, they put the students first, no matter how demanding and impatient visitors can be.
First impressions are lasting, and hopefully, each time you visit the office, you get a glimpse of what I get to experience each day. So, as we celebrated Administrative Assistants day this week, please know Ms. Brick and Ms. Berry, if no one told you what a joy it is to work with you, please know that I think so, and I know others believe the same.
Hopefully, by now, the tech issues and connecting to your child's online learning classroom are getting more comfortable. If you are having difficulty, please contact your child's teacher to start the troubleshooting process. We want all of you to be connected as we begin next week with the curriculum. As always, don't be afraid to reach out. Next week's lessons will be sent to you Monday morning by 9:00.
If you need assistance from the office, I have office hours next week:
Monday : 11-2, Tuesday : 8-10, Thursday: 11-1, Fridays: 8-11
Feel free to call the office or email me if easier.
I'm working on some fun projects and activities to help keep us connected. Checking out the morning announcements will help fill in the gaps. I know I can't hear your child, but each morning I think of them as I try to maintain something typical from the year. I'm also posting pictures of Buckley on Instagram and Twitter to bring a smile in such troubled times. Below you can find icons for the direct links.
Stay connected with us, and we'll all be better for it.
Thanks for filling the gap in this unexpected learning curve and working with us.
Be well, and stay safe,
B. Renner

Dear 4th-grade Families,
We are looking forward to having your student join our Maltby Family as a 5th grader for the
2020-2021 school year. One of the exciting parts about Maltby is your child will be able to
choose their Year Long Encore class for the next school year. There are four options to choose
from - BAND, ORCHESTRA, MUSIC or YEAR LONG P.E. We have placed the Encore
choice form on the Maltby website. There are wonderful videos and a description of each class
embedded into the choice form so your child can get an idea of what each class is about.
Please email the Encore teacher if you have any further questions about the class.
How to get to the form:
● Go to www.brightonk12.com
● Click “Select School” on the upper, right-hand side of the page. Select “Maltby
Intermediate” as the school
● Scroll down and on the left-hand side there is a link to click on that says “5th Grade Year
Long Encore Selection 20-21.” Please look carefully and do not select that 6th Grade
link.
● This will bring you to a page that allows you to select another link on the right side of the
page called “5th Grade Year Long Encore Selection 20-21.
● The form that needs to be filled out will show-up. Please submit one choice by April 24th
*Note: if you have more than one 4th grader entering Maltby you will need to submit one form for each child.
Thank you and we look forward to meeting your child in August.
