VMMS Weekly Newsletter

August 29

Good evening Viper families,

Good evening Viper families,

Please mark your calendars: Vista Magnet’s Back to School Night is this week on Thursday, September 2nd. Please note this is a virtual event only, our campus will not be open for families. Back to School night will begin with a Principal’s welcome message at 5:30 pm, then classroom presentations will begin at 6:00 pm. Full information will be available on our school website this week: vmms.vistausd.org.

Picture day is this week on Tuesday, August 31st. All students will take one photo that will be for both the yearbook and school ID card. Students were given a picture order form on Friday, or you can visit mylifetouch.com and enter school code EVTNM8R42. If you use the picture order form please include exact payment on picture day, school staff and photographers are not able to make change.

We are happy to share that free COVID testing is now available to all VUSD staff and families at the Vista Innovation Center each weekday from 8 am to 3:30 pm. The testing clinic offers both PCR and antigen rapid tests, please see this flyer for full information.

Please do not send your child to school if they have any COVID related symptoms, if they are a close contact of a COVID positive person, if anyone in the household is COVID positive, or if anyone in the household is waiting on the results of a COVID test. If a student is in any of these situations they will not be allowed to attend class and parents will be contacted to take the child home right away. Please contact our school right away if you have any of these situations.

Lastly, please be aware that we are updating our schoolwide notification practice when we have a COVID positive person on campus. This information will now be on our Weekly Newsletter on our school website, instead of making phone calls home to the whole school. This does not replace individual notifications to anyone who may be a close contact, we will still continue with individual notifications and support to anyone directly involved. You may also check the VUSD COVID-19 Case Dashboard at any time for information on VMMS and all VUSD schools.

Last week we had 2 individuals at our school who tested positive for COVID-19. Staff members and students who may have come into close contact with the individual(s) have already received a separate communication from school staff and San Diego County Public Health. Students who are home in quarantine or due to a COVID related situation should refer to our Student Quarantine Instructions to stay up to date with their classwork. You may also check the VUSD COVID-19 Case Dashboard at any time for information on VMMS and all VUSD schools.

Thank you and have a great evening,

Vista Magnet Middle School
