MYP: Unit Planning and Reflection, 6-10th Grades
Join a valuable day-long workshop to collaboratively design or reimagine a unit of inquiry (6-10th grade). Prepare to have fun and think creatively as we use a conceptual framework that heightens relevance, authenticity, and student inquiry. As a professional learning community, we will grow together through active engagement, peer feedback, and reflection throughout the workshop experience. Ideal for PLCs, individuals and coordinators/instructional leaders.
About the workshop leader: Olivia Howe-Espinosa is an International Baccalaureate Coach at Des Moines Public Schools. Olivia started her MYP journey in Mexico City as a teacher of Individuals and Societies, Language and Literature, and Language Acquisition. She served as the coordinator for the first MYP World School partnership in the state of Iowa, the district’s IB coordinator, and now supports teachers and building leaders through professional development, primarily coaching. Olivia is passionate about disrupting systems of education inequity and supporting students to thrive intellectually, emotionally, and ethically. When not working with students and educators, she is active in community causes and enjoys adventuring with her husband and two elementary-aged daughters. She looks forward to learning together, activating courage, curiosity, and creativity to create a better, more peaceful world through education.
