Professional Learning
Picture Perfect Science for K-5, Monday, June 12 - Picture Perfect Science Participants will learn the benefits and cautions of using children's picture books in science, become familiar with the essential features of inquiry and the BSCS 5E model, learn how to incorporate research-based reading comprehension strategies into science inquiry lessons, and participate in several Picture-Perfect Science model lessons. Participants will receive their choice of one award-winning NSTA Press book full of picture-book inspired elementary science lessons. Choose from: Picture-Perfect Science Lessons, More Picture-Perfect Science Lessons, and Even More Picture-Perfect Science Lessons. Lunch will be provided. This course is appropriate for all teachers.
Kindergarten-8th grade math and science teachers are invited to attend the “Enhancing Problem Solving Skills Through Scientific and Mathematical Argumentation and Reasoning” (EPSSSMAR) workshop held July 17-21, 2017, 8:30-3:30 at River’s Crossing, UGA. A stipend of $700 will be paid for participants that attend the workshop in its entirety. Please register soon (registration limited) at the JCSS Professional Learning Website. K-5 Math Endorsement Update If you are interested in attending the May 16th Meeting, please sign up on the JCSS website - Professional Learning Opportunities (you will need your Novell login and password). This in NOT a commitment for the class, this is only to gain information and to have your questions answered. If we do not have enough interest, we will not be able to offer the math endorsement. Middle School math teachers are welcome to join the May 16th meeting.
Social Studies PL Opportunities:
