Parent Message: Remote Learning #3
2020
Principal's Message
Greetings Mountain View Community,
This last week has been heartbreaking. I am staggered by the way our nation's racism is crippling us. As a leader, I stay committed to creating understanding of how personal and systemic racism impacts our society, (and most closely to my work, how students of color are impacted by having teachers and mentors that are mostly white.)
We work at attending to our racism (not ignoring it), using our White Privilege to be anti-racist, and most importantly recognizing how much power our behaviors and silences yield. Thank you for your continued dialogue, questions, and feedback on our educational practice. We are committed to building a just and equitable community of learners who are safe to venture deep in their intellectual and emotional growth.
On June 11th we will be taking a step toward closing out our odd school year and celebrating our 8th graders as they rise to high school. Hopefully you have seen the Save the Date message, and will be available for this chance to wave good bye, and launch into summer. Please see below for details.
Honored to Serve This Community,
Wendy Rider

Safe Routes to School Survey
Dear Mountain View Parents and Guardians,
It’s data collection time again for Beaverton’s Safe Routes to School program. The purpose of this program is to make walking and biking to school safe, convenient and fun.
Parent’s and guardian’s input into how students travel to and from schools and their impression of the safety of the route is valuable as the city and county prioritize needed improvements for our roads.
The following link was generated from the National Safe Routes to School Center and will be used to give us a good picture of how students are getting to and from schools throughout the district.
The school’s survey will be open for responses until May 31.
We appreciate your help in giving us information to make our program effective for all Beaverton School District students.
Thank you,
Leah Biado-Luis
