Incoming Band Student Update

www.staleyband.org

Hello from Staley

We know parents are being swamped with information, but we wanted to take time to update all families who signed up to start band next year. This smore was sent to everyone who at one point had band listed on your schedule. If you know of someone who did not receive this newsletter please let us know or feel free to forward to them. If you have a friend who is not enrolled in band then it is not too late! Likewise- if your child is not enrolled in band please let us know so we can remove you from our mailing list.

Please review the video and information below and let us know if you have any questions. We look forward to meeting and working with your student in the future!

Message to incoming students for the 2020-2021 school year

All Band Events Cancelled

We had two events on our calendar for incoming students- an instrument placement day tomorrow (Saturday 4/4) and a parent meeting scheduled for 5/7. Both events are being called off until further notice. More than likely we will be reaching out to everyone over the summer with more information.

Are you in band?

As I mentioned in the video, if you signed up for band as your #1 choice- you are enrolled in band. The second step is being sorted into the correct class based on instrument choice. Since we will more than likely not be able to do this anytime soon your child will be placed into one of our five periods of band so they can start working out their schedule. Once we get a chance to work with your child we will change schedules (if needed) and things will be finalized by our counselors.

Choosing an Instrument

There is no need to worry or be anxious about not knowing what instrument you are going to play. Every year there are between 20-30 students who are screened the first couple weeks of school. Take this time to focus on your school work and make the most of these interesting times!

Financial Aid

We understand that recent events could bring additional challenges financially for our families. Fortunately the Staley Band is much more than just a music class. As the largest organization at Staley we also have a 501(c)3 non profit booster organization. This allows us to help cover fees, supplies, lessons, and even instrument costs.

If your child is interested in band we will find a way to make band affordable for everyone in every circumstance- just let us know how we can help!
