Prestwick STEM Academy
Prestwick Profile - Community Vol. 13 Oct. 22
Prestwick LEarns
5th grade Science focused on:
forces can change the movement, shape, or position of objects (5.6D)
the effects of force can change, depending on the amount and type of force applied to the object. (5.6D)
We also want to recognize the the purposeful planning of high level questions is the basis for extending lessons for every Science learning! Here are the questions Mrs. Grones focused on.
Think: How are kinetic energy and friction related? Move: What type of energy is created by friction? Build: What types of surfaces create the most friction? Team Up: How can we diminish friction? #STEMLEARNING #STEMROCKS
Thank you 2nd Grade teachers and students for teaching the LEISD School Board about the Daily 5. You did a wonderful job!!

Staff Spotlight
This week our Staff Spotlight is on Mr. Wester. Mr. Wester is one of the original Prestwick Family members, as he has been at Prestwick since it opened in 2014. Mr. Wester is in his twelfth year of teaching, he has taught U.S History in the past. Currently, he is teaching sections of Vex Robotics, Tech Apps I, Gateway to Technology I and Intro to Lego Robotics/Game Design. He describes himself as, “ A proud "nerd for life." Mr. Wester enjoys various kinds of gaming, books on social sciences, and attending Renaissance Festivals. Wherever there are people who can directly quote every line of Star Wars, you will find Mr. Wester.
No matter what he is doing, Mr. Wester is learning, and it is this love of learning that he hopes he can inspire in his students. So when you see Mr. Wester make sure to tell him, “May the Force be with you.”
