WIth Jem Finch
Caring Older Sibling
He cares for scout and treats her nicely by teaching her lessons and lets her have fun with him. He becomes a role model for scout and she idolizes him and his moral character.
Moody Teenager
In parts of the book Jem gives people attitude and sass, just like the casual teenager. Becomes distant and stops trying to care for scout. He also shows his rebellious side by doing things he knows he shouldn't and lying to Atticus about them.
Traumatized youngster
Jem is haunted by witnessing an injustice in the court system that he previously admired. Jem is upset with the ruling on Tom Robinson being convicted guilty even though he was innocent.
