Bromley East Charter School

September 18, 2020

BECS Families:

We made it to the end of the first Learning Cycle! Although we know that all of the changes have been difficult to navigate, we are so appreciative of the support from the Bromley parents and community. We also appreciate our staff and all of the work they did to ensure that our doors were open for students in August. What a wonderful partnership we have at Bromley East Charter School! Please enjoy the break from September 21-25 and we will see you on Monday, September 28.

We would also like to share a huge celebration: Bromley East Charter School is now officially a 1:1 K-8 school, meaning we have a device (iPad or Chromebook) assigned to EVERY student! This has been a huge endeavor over the past several years and could not have been possible without the support of our Board, our Teachers, and our IT department for making it happen! Kudos to all!

Early Reading Resources

This week the Colorado Department of Education launched a public information campaign to encourage and empower parents to make reading part of their daily routine with their children. The campaign is required by legislation passed in 2019 to revamp the Reading to Ensure Academic Development (READ Act).

Please visit the new website ReadWithMe.Today to access reading tips and parent resources. You will find easy-to-use apps, activities, and downloads that are available in English and Spanish.

Your child is sick, now what?

Please see the guide linked below regarding "Next Steps” for your child and what to expect if he/she is having COVID-19 like symptoms. Please contact Mr. Nate Jacobson with any questions.

BECS is currently conducting the district assessment, FastBridge for all students in grades K-8. Please see the BECS 2020-21 Assessment Schedule for updated assessments and dates. For our remote learners, please review the following BECS Families Helping Students with FastBridge video that provides more information about how FastBridge will be completed from home. In addition, teachers will be sending home more specific step by step instructions prior to testing.

  • IMPORTANT UPDATE: As of September 17th, 3rd - 8th grade students will be taking the FastBridge FASTtrack Reading assessment which includes both AUTOReading and aREADING. These assessments will provide BECS teachers additional information regarding individual student skill levels.

REMOTE STUDENTS - As this is a very recent change, please know that the remote learner video has not been updated to reflect this change. If your remote student has already completed aREADING but not AUTOReading, their teacher will be in contact with you with next steps. Please email Ms. Cindy Hirst for more information.

  • At the front entrance (Zone 1), due to safety concerns, you will be assigned a lane. To exit, if it is a single lane rotation, you can exit either direction. If it is a double lane rotation, you will exit the direction of your assigned lane.
  • Middle School students should be in their class line by 8:20 am.
  • 1st Grade - there is a sidewalk a little further (east) down from the hill. Students can walk on that, instead of the hill, to meet up with their teacher.
  • Questions, please feel free to contact Ms. Nichols or Mr. Jacobson, Deans of Students.

Due to the current situation, online payments through our webstore will be the only method of payment for student fees. Please click here for online payment instructions. For questions regarding fees, please contact Ms. Sam French.

Will there be a yearbook this year? ABSOLUTELY!!!!

Although our school year looks a little bit different, we are committed to providing BECS' families with their annual memory book. With that being said, we still need all the content we can get! This includes school-appropriate activities at home, outside of the home, in school, while doing school work, on the computer, whatever it is that your child is doing for school, we would love to showcase in the yearbook.

We also want to let you know that while the Yearbook team would LOVE to include ALL the photos that are submitted, there are only so many slots allotted where photos can go, so, unfortunately, some photos that are submitted may not be included. Please send photos to our Yearbook Team at, be sure to include the student's name, grade and what the student was doing in the photo. Thank you so much for your support and for being a part of the BECS family!
