Bright Spots
December was a very busy month for our teachers. A huge shout out to the following teachers who helped open up doors for their students as they issued them Digital Badges.
- Sofia Vallarte Hernandez worked diligently to connect her sponge unit to the Critical Thinking badges. These preschoolers worked on activities like exploring all the ways they could use sponges, investigating properties of sponges, analyzing similarities and differences between the different types of sponges, and even organizing their results onto a graph.
- Kali Marks, Sara Hummel and David Van Sicklen both Badged their elementary students for their 21st Century Skill development in clubs. Even though these teachers have limited access to technology, this school is showing us how they don't let that barrier get in the way of their students earning badges.
- Brooke Spencer and Sam Haven both Badged students for their middle schoolers work within Science and STEM. These students not only developed the skills of Invention, they also earned badges for their 21st Century Skill development.
Endorser Highlight - American Museum of Western Art
Students who earn the Critical Thinking Summit Badge may have the opportunity to earn a career exploration experience with the American Museum of Western Art. This institution's mission is to promote understanding and appreciation of art depicting the American West. Students who develop critical thinking skills and choose this endorser will have a behind the scenes tour of this museum or even a visit from one of the museums' experts. Just as you teach your students to critically think to solve a problem in Math, the museum will allow opportunities for your students to critically think as they analyze pieces of artwork from their collection.
