Red Devil Details
EHS Parent Edition
September 30, 2022
Enhancing safety on our campus is important to me. Our outside doors are locked during classes but will unlock via a timer between classes. Students will need the pass to travel between buildings during classes.
The 6th - 9th grade data meetings were successful. It was important to share our data with ALL students. We will conduct these meetings again in either January updating the students on our mid-year STAR scores and grade performance. I have attached today’s presentations for you. I plan for RDC to take shape with the introduction for our playbook we will use. The Playbook can be found in the Schoology Red Devil Connections Course.
Mr. Jerrod Smith was our guest speaker for grades 10-12 on Friday, September 30, 2022. He covered personal development and educational achievement. He emphasized overcoming battles within oneself using personal mentorship and accountability, and incorporated how to navigate through negative situations by goal setting and educational achievement.
World of Works in Huntsville on 9/29 was a great success. Elkmont took 99 students to the VBC for the event. We have attached some pictures of the event. Thank you to our counselors Ms. Clark and Ms. Magnusson for planning this event.
The ASVAB test will be offered at Ardmore HS on 10/6 at 12:30 for juniors and seniors interested in pursuing the military. Students must register with the counseling office by 9/30.
Seniors parents - The FAFSA application is a requirement for graduation. FAFSA/Pell Grants are funds that are given to students from the federal or state government that do not have to be repaid. The money is sent to the college or university. In order to qualify for these grants, the application must be completed. There will be three representatives at Elkmont on Tuesday, October 4 to assist students and parents with the FAFSA. The rep will need to access social security numbers, W2 forms and 1040 tax forms from the year 2021. Please make an appointment below.
