Community Thanksgiving Dinner

Although this year was a little different, our senior citizen guests had a great sit-down dinner and our other community guests were able to carry out their delicious food. Special thanks to Dulcie Holcomb and her Chartwells staff for all of their food preparation, our JROTC members, NHS student volunteers, FFA student volunteers, and all other students and staff who generously donated their time to make this year's event a success!

We're thankful for you!

Thank you, BGHS JROTC and BGHS National Honor Society!

Students and staff sponsors from the BGHS National Honor Society (NHS) and our BGHS JROTC cadets, as well as Cheyenne Boone, one of our 2021 BGHS grads and a current ROTC cadet, helped pack and distribute over 550 Thanksgiving meals at the annual Servant's Heart Turkey drive thru on Saturday, November 20. And, everything was done in record time! Thanks to our wonderful students, tasks that have taken two hours to complete in the past took 30 minutes this year! 500 vehicles were provided Thanksgiving meals in three hours!

Thank you to our students and staff for donating your time to this great annual event! And, many thanks to Mr. Bill Boone and his volunteers at Servant's Heart for all you do for our Beech Grove community. We are grateful!

Learning a New Skill

Mr. Tim Griffin, our high school Life Skills teacher, organized lunch and a program to teach his students to tie ties properly...a skill that is important to all of us...on Thursday, November 18 in the Mike McMorrow Auditorium at BGHS. The class has been practicing with ties donated by the community and the students have made great progress.

A group of men from Classic Men attended the November 18 program to show our students how to tie a bow tie, too.

What a great program! Thank you, Mr. Griffin! And, thanks to our community for their donations of ties!

Learning to Research

From Mrs. Collins. . .South Grove Intermediate - 4th Grade

"My classes are learning how to research efficiently and effectively on the Internet! We searched for information about Sarah Hale, the mother of Thanksgiving. We then used our research notes to create Google Slides. This is practice for our Famous Hoosiers Project due at the end of the semester!"

Send Us Your Hornet Highlights!

We know there are many, many positive stories about Beech Grove City Schools involving our students, teachers, staff, and programs that we don't always hear. If you have a positive story to share, please send the details to Melody Stevens, Community Relations/Communications Director, at mstevens@bgcs.k12.in.us. We also encourage you to send stories that include personal achievements of your child such as: attaining the rank of Eagle Scout, performing in a community play, earning Girl Scout badges, serving as a volunteer in a non-profit organization, etc., etc. You might just see your story in a future edition of the "Hornet Blast" or in one of our local south side newspapers. We want to celebrate our Hornets!
