Math Fair
A special thank you goes out to the homeroom teachers for their cooperation, and to the math committee for making the math fair, once again, run very smoothly.

Take a look at what some of them came up with.
How to Avoid Summer Regression
1. Reading: Read to your child, or have them read to you. For the older students, participate in a book study together and discuss major elements of the novel.
2. Use the Data: With Scantron behind us, you will have plenty of data that will show where your child is thriving, as well as some improvement areas that you can work on. Use that data to dictate what you work on.
3. Free-Write: Encourage your child to do some free-writing. Have a story-writing contest with their friends, or share samples together a few times during the week. The key here is to not be over-bearing on their work, but you also must be sure to check up on them to be sure that they're using proper grammar and obeying punctuation rules.
4. Flash Cards / Interactive Math: Each year we provide you with various options for summer math practie, so take that opportunity to keep your child ahead of the game going into next year. Math facts are the most common challenge that students face. Zeroing in and having those mastered will also put your child in position to succeed next school year.
5. Allow Plenty of Time for Fun: Summer is a great opportunity for your children to relax; they've just put in a full year of excellent work. You know your child best, so when you're sensing that he or she may be getting burnt out by what you're working on, take a step back and try again the next day. Don't go too easy on them, though!
Parents are, and always will be, the primary educators of a child. You know what makes your child tick, and how to get the very best out of him or her. To rid them of additional challenges next year, take some time this summer to instill in them that education doesn't just occur in school. We'll all be much better off as a result.
Thank you for all that you've done to make this year special.
