One School, One Book
Our School is taking part in a special, community-wide shared reading event. Every child has receive a copy of the same book, Frindle by Andrew Clements. We are personally asking you to make the time so that your family can participate in this special activity.
Along with the book, you have received a reading schedule so that you can keep up at home. Generally, you will be asked to read about 15 minutes each night.
We know that you’ll enjoy this special reading time with your children. We hope to talk with both you and your student sometime in the days to come about discovering new words! “When a whole school reads a book, there’s a lot to talk about.” With your help, we can build a Community of Readers at our school.

STEM Club
There is something very fascinating about a rainbow. In STEM club we made a rainbow from jellybeans! 🌈
First, students learned the history of Jellybeans and how they are made.
"Jellybeans are thought to have been invented by William Schrafft, a Boston candy maker. Schrafft is believed to have encouraged families to send his jellybeans to soldiers during the Civil War. By the 19th century, jellybeans were a common household name. Jellybeans were the first candy sold by weight instead of by the piece in the United States."
We then placed jellybeans on a plate. Some students choose to keep all their colors together, while others made a pattern. Students then poured water on the plate. Students watched until all the colors came together in the middle, making a beautiful rainbow. Students then waiting and watched the colors grow bolder as time went on. This jellybean stem activity uses simple materials to help kids explore a variety of areas to create a truly beautiful rainbow.
Virtual Day of Instruction
On Tuesday, May 17th, East Fallowfield Elementary School will be used as a polling place for the primary election. Therefore, East Fallowfield Elementary School will have a virtual day of instruction and students should access their learning from home this day. Teachers will share their schedules and zoom links prior to this virtual day of instruction. I wanted to let you know as soon as possible for planning purposes and I apologize for any inconvenience this schedule change may cause. I thank everyone for their flexibility and understanding.
