Rocket Review
Week of November 30, 2018
One Page on the Calendar
The calendar year and school year is flying by, leaving us with one month left for 2018. We are well into our second marking period of instruction, and heading toward the completion of the first semester, which comes at the end of January. While our kids are very excited about this upcoming month, including the break at the end, we are staying focused on our daily learning and academic goals as we move toward the end of the first semester.
The Morgan Positive Behavioral Support and Intervention (PBIS) team is kicking off a review of the 8 Keys of Excellence and behavioral expectations for Morgan students. Our first training review will be on assemblies. On Wednesday, December 5, our students will learn a new way to enter and exit assemblies, and practice expectations during an assembly. Morgan will host an assembly shortly after this practice so our students can demonstrate the expectations.
Again, we are focusing on positive behavior and have a reward system staff will be implementing to acknowledge students who demonstrate positive behavior. More details will come as our PBIS team rolls out their plan with students.
As you plan for the end this month, consider new reading books as a way to keep our kids reading, even when they are away from school. Revisiting old favorites together is a nice way to spend some time with our kids while enjoying a story that brings back memories from our own childhood.
Have a great week!

Morgan Lunch Monitors
Morgan continues to look for additional support during the lunch hour. While our building is allocated a certain amount of paid EduStaff lunch monitors, we can take additional support in the form of volunteers. Students really enjoying seeing their parent/grandparent/aunt/uncle at school during the lunch time helping in the lunchroom or walking around the playground with the kids.
If you are interested in becoming a paid lunch monitor, please click on link below to start an application with EduStaff. EduStaff certified lunch monitors are paid an hourly rate each day they work. EduStaff employees can also complete additional, free, online training sessions and become substitute paraprofessionals for additional paid hours of work.
Morgan also takes volunteers with a current background check on file. If you filled out a Volunteer Sheet within the past few years, you should be able to volunteer for field trips, classroom help and lunch supervision. If you are unsure about your volunteer status, please contact the Main Office and Sharon or Melissa can check for you: 586-797-5800.
If you are interested in volunteering during the lunch hour, which runs from 11:30 AM until 12:15 PM each day, please contact Melissa in the main office and let her know what days you are available to volunteer. Grandparents/aunts/uncles/neighbors are all welcome once we have a background check on file.
If you have any questions, please call Morgan at 586-797-5800 or email Mrs. Lasky at sue.lasky@uticak12.org.

Morgan Annual Mitten Tree Donations
Morgan Families,
In the spirit of this holiday season, Morgan’s Student Council will be participating in the Toys for Tots program. We will be gathering new, unwrapped toys for children (age range: newborn to 17 yrs. old). If you are interested in donating an unwrapped toy, student council will be collecting them from Nov. 20-Dec. 13th. The Toys for Tots boxes will be located in each classroom. The class with the most toys donated, will earn a pizza party. On Thursday, Dec. 14th, we are scheduled with the U.S. Marines for a special pick up of the toys. Thank you so much for your support!
Happy Holidays,
Morgan’s Student Council
